I met Alan Lee over the weekend at his signing here in LA and.... I got this sketch:

Orthanc and friend

I own a lot of neat LOTR things, but this is among my most precioussssssss..... I will never part with it   Cheesy

Wow!

Alan Lee totally rocks! Apparently he's spent a week "doing a book tour of  the states" which seems a short period of time for how many big cities there are.

That's a real treasure you have there - and I am not at all jealous  Undecided  Kiss  Cry

Well... I am DYING to go with Roz and meet Alan Lee and perhaps see him drawing... I think watching him draw in front of me would be as much a gift as owning a sketch... I wonder if he would object to people videoing him drawing as he does so.

When you look at his sketches they can often look like a very scrawly set of lines if you look close up - and yet when you stand back and take perspective the sketch just looks phenomenal... lol I am going to get all lyrical on you but it seems as though he brings order to chaos (having caused the chaos in the first place).

I'll have to find the sketch online that I saw that made me think this but Jas' is pretty neat Smiley
