Does anyone play Kingdom of Hearts for the PS2?
I can't get off the blasted island and I have the "instruction" book. Any ideas or advice?

A friend of mine (who has obviously forgotten his forum password or something) has suggested you might like to try the Gummi Ship. Or something. Let us know if that helps...

Are you on the beginning island?  Have you done all the missions there?  It has been ages since I played the game, but it is my FAVORITE PS2 game ever!!!!  In fact, it is the game that got me addicted to video games.  Rented it, and now own 50-100 games.

Anyway, there is a door, I believe in a cave that you can go through once you did everything.  If you are where I think you are, this should help:

Every time you beat Riku you get a Pretty Stone which can be sold later
on for 30 munny, so having a lot of these may come in handy.  Once
you’ve had your fun with Riku racing talk to Kairi, who’s standing on
the raft.  She’ll ask you to gather supplies for the journey.  She
wants a Seagull Egg, 3 Mushrooms, 2 Coconuts, 3 Fish, and Drinking
Water, but not from the ocean.  As before she’ll offer you little or
big clues if you ask for them.

Here’s the location of all the items:

Mushroom #1- Push aside the boulder to the left of the raft and walk
into the small cave.  There’s a Mushroom in there.
Coconuts #1 and #2- To the right of the raft there are several coconut
trees.  Two of them in the back will drop usable coconuts if you hit
them (they’ll be a brighter colour and bigger then the regular
coconuts).
Mushroom #2- Head off to where the tower suspending a string is now
(the larger of the two).  In the vegetation to the side of it will be a
Mushroom.
Fish #1, #2, and #3- On the other side of the island you can catch fish
in the water near Selphie.  Simply stand over the fish to catch them.
Drinking Water- Next, head to where Wakka is (you should be able to see
him from the ocean) and walk in the springs to get Drinking Water.
Mushroom #3- Go to the left of the springs and into the Secret Place.
Pick up the Mushroom and watch a brief FMV.
Seagull Egg- Exit the secret place and go on top of the roof near where
Wakka is.  Walk across to where there are three trees.  Climb up the
long gray tree in the center and jump onto the top of the tree with an
egg on it.

“On the island you can get yourself a protect chain. In the Cove
somewhere around the tower with the ladder there is a box if u use
first person view from the tower you should see a large hole in a piece
of stone wall. If you take the box, and throw it near the whole u can
climb up into it and get a Protect Chain.” – thanks to Jonothan Zolodom
for finding the Protect Chain ^_^

After you’ve found all the items I recommend saving the game again
before delivering the items to Kairi, who is still waiting at the raft.
Also, if you want to race Riku more or fight Tidus, Wakka, and/or
Selphie again, now’s the time to do it.  Once you’ve done all that talk
to Kairi who will give you a Hi-Potion for your efforts.  If you’ve
done everything you want to do say “Yeah, let’s go home.”

After another movie you’ll be attacked by shadows.  Don’t bother
fighting them, you can’t do anything with that sword.  Riku’s standing
on the dock, go to him.  After another short FMV you’ll get the
Keyblade.  Now you can combat the Shadows, but there is little point to
it as they don’t seem to give you much experience (HiP says that they
give you 1 exp on a fast paced game).  Head for the Secret
Place which now has a silver door as it’s entrance.  After that you’ll
be transported to a wasteland which most likely use to be your island.
Darkside is there (the first boss you faced) but he’s a little tougher
this time.

I am an avid fan of all video games, but I do happen to have a particular interest in RPGs.  How did you like this game?  Have you played any others such as zelda or final fantasy, that you could compare it to?  I'm just trying to bide my time until the next version of each of these games come out.  ladeeda....i guess i'll just spend another 70 hours on NCAA college football until then. lol
take care all

Honestly, I think, in my opinion, this is one of the BEST games there is.  I have a friend who does not play video games, and she would come to my house just to watch me play this game for hours at a time.  At the time, I rented it, but I now own it to play again whenever I want.  The second one comes out September 2005, I think.  Anyway, I played the old time Zelda's, but this is better than that in my opinion.  Also better than all the Ratchet and Clanks and Jak and Daxter's too.  Since you like FF, I hear that some of the charaters in Kingdom Hearts are FF characters (but sine I don't play FF, I am not 100% on this one).  It is just fun exploring all the Disney worlds, going in to Alison and Wodnerland, being able to fly in Neverland (Peter Pan), turning in to a mermaid to swim in the Little Mermaid, going in to the whale in Pinnochio. And so many more.  Even my husband enjoyed this one and is anxious for the second one to release.

Can you tell I loved this game?  Just don't hate me if you go get it and don't like it.  I think you will though.

As far as my fav. game, I'd have to admit I am a sucker for anything Mariokart.  I don't know why.  but as for the PS2, I was intrigued with the KOH game and started to lose interest when I couldn't get off the blasted island.  I've accomplished everything except the "race" with the blonde guy.  Maybe that is what I have to do next?  I also think I have to fight him or something to learn "skills".
I went in the cave once and saw a scary guy who had come out of the door but I couldn't go through it.

I didn't want to do this in fear that you would use this guide through the entire game, so try to find what you need and get rid of the site, or hold on to it until you get stuck again.  Here is a walkthru:

ohh, how technical!  I like it.  thanks for the help.  Back to my video game obsession after a brief spell of swearing off of it.  I have an original nintendo, super nintendo, nintendo 64, original gameboy, advanced gameboy, original PS, and PS2.  Yikes!  who has the time or money?!  I need to get a life!
Granted, I got my first nintendo when I was 10 or 11.

Helppppppppp

I am off the island and have seen what Donald and Goofy have to say.  I am now running between the three sectors.  Just two questions, well for now that is  Wink

1.  In the shop with the bloke who wants to help there is a ladder leading to the upper floors where I can make crystals - should I be able to reach this yet?

2.  At the moment I am just nipping into sector two, fighting a few baddies then running back to sector one.  Should I be looking for Donald now?  If the answer is yes , is he in sector three?

BTW thanks for the recommendation - this is a great game  Grin

I hope this helps you ... By the way, I remember the feeling when I got off the island, too. I was very happy, indeed.

1.  In the shop with the bloke who wants to help there is a ladder leading to the upper floors where I can make crystals - should I be able to reach this yet?

You won't be able to reach the ladder, quite yet. This is one of those things that you'll have to return to Traverse Town and do later ...

2.  At the moment I am just nipping into sector two, fighting a few baddies then running back to sector one.  Should I be looking for Donald now?  If the answer is yes , is he in sector three?

At this point, I'm sure you saw some scenes of Donald and Goofy, right? You can keep fighting the baddies to get Sora to a higher level, or you could search for Donald and Goofy. In that case, you want to go to Sector Three Wink

BTW thanks for the recommendation - this is a great game  Grin

It's nice to hear someone else enjoying it. I honestly couldn't tell you how many hours I wasted away playing it.

It gets even better when you get to other places. There's a lot more good times to be had Grin

Thanks for the info  Grin  I will build up a bit of strength and then head for sector 3.

I must say though, when I was on the Island, no one gave me any pretty stones to sell  Undecided  So in that sense it very like real life - I am broke here and there  ROFL!

I am useless at using any of the magic or special abilities - I just hack away with my key and hope for the best  Grin  I am going to try another area tonight but they all have two ** ie meaner enemies.  Wish me luck  Praying
