I have always been a fan and collected the Topps and Inkworks cards. In case any fellow fans have missed it this is what the Inkworks site says about the new set which will be released in May.

Inkworks announces the May 2005, release of its next fan-favorite “Connections” product – this time featuring the intriguing, tangled storylines of The X-Files!  The X-Files: Connections Ultra-Premium Trading Cards will be an amazing 72-card series printed on premium foil board, with each card in the base set etched in the Connections tradition for an ultra-premium look and feel.

This product will be loaded with randomly inserted bonus cards to satisfy every fan of The X-Files:

Parallel Set – 72 cards that parallel the base cards.  Card numbers will be different from the base set. (72 cards - Inserted approximately 1:1 pack).

*Mulder’s Secret Files – Nine card foil puzzle featuring Mulder’s personal investigation findings.  (9 cards - Inserted approximately 1:11 packs).

*Haunting Cases – Six cards featuring memorable characters and cases from The X-Files. (6 cards - Inserted approximately 1:14 packs).

*Pieceworks® Cards – Two cards that will feature pieces of the actual costumes worn on-screen during The X-Files:  Mulder’s shirt (worn by David Duchovny) & Scully’s shirt (worn by Gillian Anderson). (2 cards - Insertion odds TBD)

*Autograph Cards – To Be Announced!

*PLUS -  Three Box Loaders “The Informants” and one Case Loader to add to the collection!

Packs of THE X-FILES: CONNECTION Ultra-Premium Trading Cards will have a suggested retail price of $3.49.  Each pack will contain six cards plus one parallel card with 24 packs in each sealed display box.  A collector album (SRP $19.95) will be created especially for this set.  Also, 199 sequentially numbered uncut mini-press sheets of the "Mulder’s Secret Files" puzzle will be available for a suggested retail price of $69.95 per sheet.

CONFIGURATION:
6 Cards + 1 Parallel Card per pack
24 Packs per box
12 Boxes per case

SRP: $3.49 Per pack

UNCUT MINI-PRESS SHEET
“Mulder's Secret Files”
Only 199 sequentially-numbered sheets will be available.
SRP: $69.95

THE X-FILES: CONNECTIONS COLLECTOR ALBUM
SRP: $19.95

As always Inkworks give lots of information about the cards unlike some companies I could mention. Did someone mention Artbox.

I might be interested in this set - I just got into the X Files (2 years after the last season - late bloomer, I know Roll Eyes) But its so cool watching all the box sets - no cliffhangers for me! Grin But I went to have a look at this - it lools fantastic! Inkworks is so thorough with their product description and apart from the TBA autos (hopes for Mulder and Scully autos!) I couldn't really ask for more!

I'd love another chance at a Gillian Anderson autograph. Maybe now that Duchovny isn't doing much he'll sign   Roll Eyes

I'm sure this will be a great set in the "Connections" tradition.

A lot of these cards are now showing up on eBay as pre orders for later this month. The Scully and Mulder pieceworks are going for around $25 and the auto cards (except for Gish and Anderson) are going for about $20 each. Not too bad but I should be saving for the new HP cards.

I almost bought the Scully autographed piecework on pre-sale but chickened out at the last moment.... I decided that $220 was too much to pay for a card I did not even know what it looked like...

And its selling for $450+ now Cry

Here's the only pic of one I have seen... all other sellers are selling the redemption card

What do we think?[

Has anyone collected this set at all?

I'm thinking of getting the base and insert sets (not the autos/PW cards - I'll get a couple of auto cards seperately).

I'm slowly working towards a set (minus Gillian Andersons auto & auto/piecework). They're very nice cards.

If you only want bits of it, I'd strongly recommend you buy a full set of the parallels on ebay. I reckon you'd need to open at least 3 boxes to get a complete parallel set.

Cool, thanx for the advice Rob, I'm going to go for a Scully auto (not the auto-PW) as I like the look of the card better than the PW...

I'll post a pic o the card if I manage to get one Roll Eyes - wish me luck Grin

I do appreciate the "X shaped" idea with the aperture of the piecework cards although it does leave you feeling a little cheated on fabric don't you think?
