Lets say You-Know-Who dropped by at your house with his mate Sauron and they demanded that you choose from your collection of the HP and LOTR books and movies only 2 options which you could save. The other 2 would be cast deep into the fires from whence they came... So whats it to be? My last poll for a while...

OOh it has to be LOTR books and LOTR movies... but I am torn, I do like the HP books... as yet the movies are great but haven't quite matched the books... unlike the LOTR movies; they had to leave out and mix up the books but kept an amazing spirit of the books!

Fair enough. Can't go wrong with Balrogs. i think it lacks Peter Jackson And you also have a good point. I think it would be very interesting to see how a Potter film directed by Mr Jackson would turn out.

Sign me up for LOTR's Books & Movies anytime!! Has anyone heard anything about Peter Jackson's current project - King Kong? All I know is that he has the same crew that worked on LOTR's with him including Weta. I think his remake of this movie is going to be exceptional.

From the horses mouth; Howard Shore would be interested in doing the music but hasn't been asked!

I'm afraid I'm not all that excited about King Kong. I wasn't a big fan of the original(s?) although I'm sure I'll end up seeing this one anyway!

Mark:
King Kong for its time was a technological wonder and special effects masterpiece. The movie was a huge hit that scared and entertained audiences worldwide. This movie laid the foundation for modern special effects and I can see why it is one of Peter Jackson's favorite movies of all time and why he would want to update it with today's technology.

My intent was not to put anyone in their place. I had a Film History class in College that was outstanding and gave me insights I would not normally have had. I really love the movies from the 1930's through the 1950's especially the ones in Black & White. The acting was so much better compared to most of today's films.

Hi Ed: You are a man after my own heart. Citizen Kane - what an all time classic. Orson Wells was outstanding in that one and so many others. So many great films were made in the areas of Action/Adventure, Suspense, Horror, War, Mystery, Westerns, you could go on and on. I am glad to see many of these movies coming out on DVD. I have many of them on tape but have long term concerns about how well they will last due to the film drying out and becoming brittle. I know I will not have that problem with DVD's.

Have you got the 60th Anniversary kane DVD??? Well worth a purchase...plus the Superbit version of Lawrence of Arabia, the picture quality is top! Unfortunately it lacks the 2nd disc of extras which was on the two-disc intial release but the improved picture and sound make up for it....what can I say Maurice Jarre in DTS???

Hi Ed:
No I do not have the 60th of Kane nor the Superbit of Lawrence of Arabia. I have the Special Collector's 2 disc edition. That is one great movie!! I love Peter O'Toole in so many films especially "Night of the Generals" and "Murphy's War".

Yeah the 2-disc Lawrence has a great documentary on disc 2.....the Spielberg comments are worth it alone.

Hey Ed:
Mark told me that he met you at Collectormania. What actors autographs were you after and whose do you have?
Mark & Roz have been so great to me getting many LOTR's autos as we do not have anything like Collectormania anywhere near where I live.
