Warning: This link contains porn ads. Just to let people know, although if you like to look at disgusting stuff like that, I'm sure a bit of porn won't bother you. Definitely NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK...

Yeah, maybe I should have mentioned that... But you'r probably right, if people can deal with the stuff that's on the site, the banners wont bother them.

I have seen enough of the "real thing" to last me a life time so I don't need a reality check. I really do not know how much this affects other people as it seems so many have become immune to death from Hollywood, TV, and Video Games.
I can tell you, you lose all prior notions of what you thought death was all about when you enter into combat for the first time and see friends killed and injured and especially so when you kill.
It would be interesting to know how many times the site has been visited. It seems in many instances people are drawn to such sites for the curiosity factor or to watch something forbidden or especially gruesome.

Hi Samwise:
I took a look at the site and it is probably the most graphic I have ever seen with links to some really deranged and immoral practices. I do not know what kind of person you would have to be to enjoy stuff like this but it is not the majority of people out there.
I am not saying don't put blinders on. Maegna rightfully states that a lot of stuff is going on in the world and that it is not nice but it is reality. It is important to be aware of what is happening in the world especially in this day and age.

I agree with having to be aware, but the things on that site would be traumatic and horrible enough to read about, let alone see in graphic detail. As for being immune via the mass media today... I don't hink anything could really immunise against the shocking things on this site

Good Morning FTK:
I wish I could agree with you but I have seen in person young people in Grammer & High School laughing at the images of death in so many different forms. I also have seen the same thing happen while attending movies with violent death and very graphic scenes during which laughter could be heard in the audience from the younger memebers. I especially remember this happening during "Saving Private Ryan" and several of the persons laughing had to be escorted out of the theater because so many people were angry at them over their reactions to what was being depicted on the screen. Many members of the audience wanted to punch these kids out as they were so angry at their insensitivity. I have also been in Video Stores watching kids play on PS2, X-Brick, and Gamecube trying out the latest shooters or hack and slash games and reveling in the mayhem, death, and destruction. I know what people will say about that last statement and most will be able to distinguish the difference between reality and fantasy but then there are others who will take it to the extreme and we see this in school yard shootings all over this country.
My wife tells me about stories she hears about co-workers children - young boys aged 13 -16 constantly visiting Porno sites and sites like the one we are discussing and the problems the parents are having trying to curb this activity to no avail.
I guess what I am trying to say is that there will always be some people out there who will never be shocked and revolted by what is depicted on that site and in the end that is a very sad and poor commentary on today's society and values.

Sadly, I have to agree with you on that point, I myself have seen these types of reactions to violent media (TV, movies, games etc). For the most part, people are able to understand that reality is very different to the hack and slash games you play, I play LOTR TT and ROTK sometimes when I want to vent my stress in a harmless way, but NEVER would i consider that form of violence acceptable in real-life. For me, these types of games are just another form of entertainment and I know that imagination is very separate from reality. But as you say, there are alot of people out there that can't define the boundary between these two categories... and those people worry me. Its terrible that you have experienced such traumatic experiences and have to cope with insensitivities such as this at home. It does make you question this generation's value standards, doesn't it?
Take care, FTY

I didn't really enjoy Saving Private Ryan as I'm afraid it was a little bit to real for me. I'm sure it's not nearly as graphic as what you see out there on the battle field but it's definitely close enough for me. I like my entertainment to take me away from reality to some extent.
Death in videogames isn't that realistic and although some kids who obviouisly need better parenting cannot tell the difference, I think most people can.
I don't think I've made much of a point here but I kind of lost my train of thought a while back...

Yes - I agree (there's a surprise) but hacking the tentacles off the watcher isn't going to make me chop a jellyfish in half when next at the beach (yes even if it stings me) nor shooting Uruk Hai going to make me Kill Mark if he doesn't make a good cup of tea... ooh now I am getting ideas

Mark - are you admitting for the world to see that Roz is a better video game player than you are? She has actually taken down the "Mighty Yak" himself!! But seriously movies like "Saving Private Ryan" are important for showing the general public that war is not a game and the costs involved. No other movie has come so close to what my Father and so many others went through during the Second World War. I agree with you Mark that people want to go to the movies to escape reality even if it is for just a little bit of time. "Saving Private Ryan" was not a movie made to satisfy that desire. I do not know how many people enjoyed what they saw in the movie but all came away with a newfound respect for what these men went through and that I think was the point of the movie.
