Just watched the final episode - absolutely awesome. Not sure I liked Chris Ecclestone though, he played it a bit too child-like and "wide eyed wonder" for my taste.
That said, he has revitalised the franchise in the best possible way so I guess he got it right. I just hope this Tennant bloke keeps it on a high.

Do we think the new series looks promising or looks to be a big dissapointment? There's no Cybermen of which I am glad they used to scare me Ok bad news for my the Cybermen are coming back But oh I do like David Tennant as the new Doctor and much better to look at too Although I am worried about his working for Voldemort

Chris Eccleston may have "revitalised the series" (i am enjoying david tennant more) but even bbc worldwide doesn't want to buy it and most of any TV series finance comes from selling it to other countries. So if other countries won't buy it the series won't get better technologically which is what it needs to be sold world wide - its a horrible circular nightmare!!!

Shocking but true. Joy, I don't think they ever intend for the special effects to get any better, it's all focussed around plot and I really really don't think they'd ever change that.

The jury is still out in this part of the Galaxy. I think I need to see him in real episodes to decide. Do we know when they start?

I am looking forward to seeing the new Dr. Who here in the USA on The SciFi Channel. I remember watching the original Dr. Who on TV here long along and liked the story then. I hope they do a good job.

Well, you will be starting with the Christopher Eckleston series I expect. Those have been great - although some of the props etc remain cringeworthy - that is the whole point. It's meant to look like you could have done the whole show in your back room The series you will see first has gone down a storm here We are just starting on the next series with David Tennant, aka Barty Crouch Jr aka Cassanova so it's another trying time - to see if the standard can remain high

I had posted this in my Avi but I thought I had better put it in here too incase you didn't look in my avi thread (and why not lol ). Doctor Who checks into SCI FI SCI FI Channel screen first series Fridays at 9pm from March.
SCI FI Channel and BBC Worldwide Americas announced today a major licensing deal for the first series of the latest Doctor Who adventures.
The 13-part drama is about a mysterious time-travelling adventurer known simply as "The Doctor" (Christopher Eccleston) and his companion, Rose Tyler (Billie Piper). The Doctor and Rose risk death and danger, battling aliens and monsters.
The deal, brokered by Lisa Hofer, Director Co-Production and Sales, BBC Worldwide Americas, grants SCI FI Channel the first run rights for series one with an option for series two. The award-winning series will premiere on SCI FI beginning in March, airing Friday nights at 9.00pm.
Russell T Davies, Head Writer and Executive Producer told us: "The Doctor's made all sorts of journeys in Time and Space, but this is one of his most exciting yet! I'm a huge fan of the SCI FI Channel, and I'm delighted that Doctor Who is appearing on a channel that supports and enhances the entire genre."
"With its rich history of imaginative storytelling, Doctor Who is a true sci-fi classic," stated Thomas P. Vitale, SCI FI's Senior Vice President, Programming & Original Movies. "We're excited to add the show to our lineup."
Commenting on the deal Candace Carlisle, Senior Vice President, BBC Worldwide Americas, said: "The new production has fantastic storylines and production values and has already gained an iconic status around the world. SCI FI Channel is the perfect home for the show and will introduce Doctor Who to a whole new generation of fans in the US."
In addition, BBC Video has moved the US release date of the DVD from February 2006 to July 4, 2006 to capitalize on the exposure from the TV broadcast. As part of the deal, BBC Video and SCI FI Channel have agreed to work together on joint marketing promotions to support the brand launch.
Burton Cromer, Vice President, Consumer Products, BBC Worldwide Americas said: "We are delighted to be working with SCI FI Channel on the launch of this exciting new take on Doctor Who. The additional marketing support from SCI FI, as well their ability to reach such a broad audience base, made moving the release date an easy decision."Also a good note for me, I'm studying film and TV history this year, and I have just found out that Dr Who is included watching Dr Who = Studying brill

Well its heading back at speed I saw an addy for it the other day and it looks great. I think its back on the 15th April. Now there was a press conference and Russel T said he wouldn't be against a Femaie Dr (although I also read that David Tennant doesn't mind doing it for the next 40 years, much as I love him I think the zimmer might get in the way by then ;-) ) Anyway to my question would a female Doctor be a Time Lord or Time Lady? Time lady doesn't sound as good Anyway I say bring back the master I thought he was sexy even though I was justa youngster back then. No on second thoughts I thought to decent men might get my far too exited Anyway all the other time lords are dead aren't they.....

Anyway all the other time lords are dead aren't they..... I'm not buying that one. They can travel in time right? So hopefully one of them can prevent their own extinction. After all the Daleks are making a come back and they have been wiped out twice. I am still going with Boglegs suggestion that Dr Who is the Master in disguise and the real doctor is tied up somewhere on the TARDIS, which is something else I want to see lots more of
