I have a PS2 and am really excited about some games coming out this year. was wondering if anyone agreed with me. First, Harry Potter GoF. Can't wait. But other than that:
Destroy all Humans - release date June 2005 Resident Evil 4 - rumored to be released for PS2 in November 05 Tomb Raider - November 2005
and the most anticipated one:
Kingdom Hearts II, just pushed back to December 2005.

My friends just finshed RE4 on the XBrick. They loved it. Said it was great, but it was the first Res Evil game they ever played. I was upset it did not come out on PS2, but was happy to find out it was going to soon My husband and I are big fans of the series, as well as the Tomb Raider ones. I know you are younger, so I can see how it would have given you nightmares. You really want nightmares? Play Fatal Frame 1 and 2!!!! My friend in Florida bought it (I live in new Jersey) and her husband was at work when she decided to play it, home alone. She was on the phone with me most of the night because she was scared to death to be by herself. They own a bar, so her husband wasn't home until after 4 am. The bar closes at 4, then he cleans up and goes home.

I am an avid gamer and own a Ps2 and a Gamecube. I am really looking forward to the third and forth quarters of this year, but their are too many games to list......... -NCAA Football 2006 (Guess everyone outside the US has no interest whatsoever in this one) -New Legend of Zelda Game (ohhhhhhhhh man............this is the big one) -Starcraft Ghost (Don't know if there are any SC fans out there, if so, I'm still into Bnet a bit) -The Godfather (The judgement is still out on this one, but its looking good!) -Final Fantasy IIX (......salivate.......) and so on and so on....... not going to lie, i'm addicted....... lol Don't get me wrong, I doubt I will be able to afford all these games, let alone have time to play them. But this fall/winter is looking great!

To be honest I was a big fan of the Tomb Raider serious when it first came out. I played through the first 3 games completely. But the last few haven't been as exciting for me.......and the last one in particular was horrid. I would really like to see them revitalize the series.

Is Zelda going to be on PS2? As for Tomb Raider, i reserved a copy early for the last game. I still enjoyed it, but it was nothing like a Tomb Raider game, and was very easy to get through. Apparently, they fired the people who made the game and hired new ones for this next one. The screenshots look awesome and Lara looks a lot better too. It should be a much better game, back to the original ones that got us all hooked on the series to begin with. Go look at some of ther screenshots!!

I checked out some previews for the new TR game....it does look a good better than "the last revalation"......... Unfinished buisness huh? I'm glad to hear they fired the old team, that game nearly ruined the franchise. If I remember right, 'revalation' had a huge buzz during pre release, it was being heavily promoted, and alot of people placed reserves on the title. This led to alot of disappointed people after the release...... I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the game though!
Sorry to say that Zelda is not on PS2. I have had a PS2 since release, but I only recently (last spring) picked up my GC. The only real reason I bought one is because I found an AMAZING deal on ebay, and I really wanted to get some Zelda games....I'm such a huge fan

I would love to pick up a GC!!!! so many fun games that you can get!! someday....but right now I need to save for PS3 when that comes out.
As for Tomb Raider, I did enjoy the game, but there were loads of bugs and it was hardly worth the $50 I paid for it. So in a way I was dissapointed, but I did not let any of that bother me too much.

Hmmm PS3 is scheduled for christmas 06 release still? At least that is what I had heard months ago..... You can get some steals on used GCs on Ebay. I picked mine up a year ago with seven great games (all of which i was interested in playing) as well as a carrying case, and 3 memory cards for 180$ including shipping. Just keep an eye out, I bet you could find a few games that you like as well as the system for around a hundred dollars.
Right now I'm getting scared about the PS3 release cost....... The Ps2 was 300$, could it get any mroe expensive? Will it?

Let me tell you a story. I was an outside sales rep at the time of the PS2 release. Didn't have the money for it, but right after release, it was sold out everywhere. I made a stop at a local mall during my day and stopped at one of the game stores. I asked the guy if they had any, knowing that they wouldn't, but he told me that actually had just one left. I debated and debated, and then, someone else waled in the store and asked the same question. The sales guy looked at me for an answer. How could I let someone else buy it? So, of course, I said i would take it $300 for the system, $50 for another joystick, $25 or so for a memory card, and another $50 for a game. What a mess!!!! I hope the next one doesn't cost more than that. If it does, I may need to wait for a price drop.

PS3? Didn't it take them many, many years to go from PS to PS2? I don't really understand the logic (besides business) in creating a new console.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to the PS2 games: Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogies Revenge
and
Kingdom Hearts II (oh yes, this one shall be awesome)

The main reason for making the PS3 is because there have been so many technological advances since they brought out the PS2. Also the sales figures of PS2 have started to slump quite a bit and so it's time for another money making machine. But this time I believe Sony want to corner the market in as many ways as possible. I think they are going to try and integrate Tivo functionality, wireless hub functions and various other media capabilities as well as the DVD and CD player bits that the PS2 currently has. That coupled with souped up graphics and sound in the gameplay makes lots of reasons to buy the new one!

I personally hate it when they make new games like this because it means that the games for Playstation 2 may be harder to come by. I can remember when this all started with Atari no sooner could a person afford that game Nintendo came out and took over. Then after Nintendo came Nintendo 64, Playstation, Gamecube, and so on and so on. I just hope that when Playstation 3 does come out the distributers remember that some people just want games for the game machines they already own, and so they shouldn't stop making them because they got a newer better toy out

Sadly this seems to be the way of things... a lot of people want games for the latest greatest machines, and since companies don't often have the staff to work on games for the older generations as well as the newer, the older get left out.
However I think it will be interesting in this case as the PS2 is probably the most popular console ever! It has an installed base of so many people that it just borders on crazy! I don't think the comanies will be able to ignore that and will keep making games for the PS2 for a long time after the PS3 comes out, although the number will start to tail off with the more people who buy the PS3...

I just got my Playstation 2 console a couple years ago and I was afraid something like this would happen I guess I can be happy that the Playstation 3 won't be out for awhile, and I won't have to deal with this problem right away.

I saw an article the other day and it basically said details on the new gen of PS are very few, but the new XBrick 360 is going to try to capitalize on online gaming and integrate things like purchasing additional weapons if you are playing a role or shooting game, for example.
Also the article said that they expect the new gen of games to hit the market at $60 or so due to increased cost of development. Time to plug in my Atari 2600 and live it up. (I also have XBrick so I am not that outdated)

I wouldn't be surprised if they bumped the price of games up. And with more and more people being online, it will be easier to authenitacte games to ensure they are not copied, so we'll all just have to cough up I think the PS3 and the X-Brick 360 are going to be pounding media centers with Tivo like functionality and integrated wifi etc etc, whereas the Nintendo Revolution is going to be something a bit different (Although no one knows what yet)...
