Well I just saw it and I thought it was ace! Anyone notice, however, that in the first scene with the boggart that Harry's scar is on the wrong side of his head? (Well it is in at least one shot)...

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT FROM HERE ON!!!!:

Also the bit with Harry's stag patronus I thought was strange because when you see him actually perform it it doesn't appear as a stag. I found that weird.

OK well here's some more stuff... Hagrid's hut. It's not at the bottom of a cliff, like it is portrayed in the POA. Not even in the previous two films. Likewise the whomping willow... it's very remote and on the edge of a cliff in the new film. In the CoS it's much nearer the school and nowhere near a cliff! On this, the images in my head agree with the previouis films. I'm not saying that this ruined the film though... it was still very very good  Wink

i wonder why they changed it though ,its not like it matters and it would not have changed the story if they left it in the same place as in COS

Also not in the book:
Tracking of Pettigrew using the Marauder's map (Snape tried to confiscate it after Malfoy reported Harry for being in Hogsmead - rescued by Lupin as in PoA)
Not in film:
Sirius breaking into Hogwarts and slashing Ron's bed drapes with a knife looking for Scabbers/Pettigrew.

What was everyone's thoughts about the Dementors?  Did they live up to your expectations and were they as you imagined they would be?   Smiley

They were pretty good.  I had pictured them more like monks with hoods and no faces but I guess thats just an personal thing.  What did you think?
I liked the 'sucking' thing, though.  It was well done.

I was so annoyed about them cutting the scene with sirius over ron. It was filmed and you can see this by looking at the base set card number 66.

I also still trying to figure out how they managed to cut an entire Quiddich season except for a couple of brief scenes.  The  PoA  book was Oliver Wood's finest hour and he didn't get a single scene in the film!

Went to see it again last night and it was just as good, if not better than the first time. Noticed loads of things new, mainly little details that were put in. The thing that bothers me the most is that Harry is practising his wand lighting spell under his covers right at the beginning, clearly doing magic outside of the school, but what he gets in trouble for is something he didn't even utter a spell to do. That's a serious mistake, don't you think?

Also the dementors seem to try to perform the kiss of death on Harry (I presume that's what the sucking is all about) every time the meet him, not just when he's helping Sirius. I thought they just made him pass out or feel great pain t hrough their presence, not actually try and kill him.

Yea sueb34 - I thought the Dementors looked very much like The Ringwraiths from The LOTR's.

Yes Mark that was the kiss of death I was talking about and I think the Director took license with what really happened in the book in relation to what we are talking about.

I also agree with sueb34 again about the Quiddich season - I was really looking forward to seeing some great scenes as described in the book but was disappointed overall with what was shown.   Sad

So far I have not seen any Director's Cuts versions of the HP movies.  We can always hope they will someday come out with all the extra footage.

In a way with all that "sucking of life" it detracted from the actual "kiss" of the dementors which I thought was a bad thing  Undecided

What did you think of Remus's werewolf?  There was a real problem as a wolf (werewolf) and dog (virtually the same animal) had to fight against a night sky so had to have very different sillhouettes so you could tell what was happening.  Major problem.
But it didn't look real and didn't measure up to Buckbeak which was superb.

I have been really REALLY negative........

But weren't the actors just great?  And what films in the hisory of the world can boast a cast list like the HP films?  And who cares if they're too good for Oscars?  On this last point - anyone got any information - is it worth opening another topic?

I totally agree... I was just thinking the other day how cool it would be if they did like LOTR and brought out extended versions including all the bits they missed out. Kind of like a 'Cover to Cover' audio book - they mustn't leave anything out!

Saw it, saw it.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE QUIDDITCH FINAL?Huh?

Sorry, that was one of the biggest highlights in the book for me. Another issue I had was that Sirius was meant to be much bigger - he was described as 'bear-like' in the book, in the movie he looked like a normal dog. Also the werewolf did not look like what I expected it to... I guess I was thinking more along the lines of a man-warg on 2 legs  Cheesy.

Apart from those points, I thought it was enjoyable and a pretty good movie if you did not keep comparing it to the book. Loved Malfoy's line of 'bloody chicken!' Grin. Tom Felton does a great job of playing the evil little brat so well. The pathetic whining was well done and made me giggle Grin And while Daniel has a while yet to go before his acting skills have truly developed, he has improved vastly from PS and CoS. Rupert and Emma were pretty good as well.
