Well I don't know how innocent you are FTY but that's another story! When do classes start up for you? Have you been to the beach much and what is the weather like now there?

My middle name is innocent Well, we are nearing the end of winter here (meaning you guys are going into winter / depending on how you feel about that!) which is good for me because I love summer and going to the beach! It has been raining rather heavily these last few days which is good because we are in serious drought in Aus at the moment and hopefully the rain will ease the situation somewhat. However, one downside is that I have to hike around university with wet pant legs due to puddles and wind-blown rain. Today I sat in front of a heater and steam started issuing from my jeans

This doesn't sound like the dry card keeping environment you keep persuading me to use for my card storage??! I for one will be glad when winter gets here! I like summer if I have time to enjoy it but when I am dashing from flume to forum I like to be a comfortable temperature And it will mean an end to Shelob visiting me in my shower! In the past week I have seen two of the biggest spiders in the world in my room... (they were almost Oz sized FTY) and I am a country girl! YEUK!

It is interesting how our seasons are reversed. Well we are not heading into Winter just quite yet. One of my favorite seasons is almost upon us - Fall. We have some spectacular Foilage changes here when the entire countryside blooms in vibrant colors. And then the tourists show up in force - "leaf peepers" we call them! Fall is also the time for The Highland Games - yea!! I love the games, vendors, and especially the music. Try to stay dry!!

Well obviously it does not rain in my room where i keep my cards The air around here is so dry that puddles evaporate almost immediately after it stops raining. We are entering spring next - whoops, got too excited about impending summer that forgot there was another season in between! Are you sure it wasn't Aragog Roz? What are your spiders like? Big/poisonous? We have the (dubious) honour of having the world's most highly poisonous spider here in this country - the Sydney Funnelweb (great, it is specific to where I live ) which was used as the model for Shelob according to Richard Taylor! He told of how they used to play pranks on PJ who loathed and was terrified of spiders So you can imagine all these mini-Shelobs creeping around Sydney - though I have not seen one yet, thank goodness!

What I find shocking is compared to the number of miles we are from the sun - what is it ? About 93 million miles? Yes the diameter of the earth is about 8,000 miles, so how come just because you are currently tilting away on that 23 degree tilt so you don't get so much sunlight etc etc... and we are of course on an eliptical orbit too... how eliptical is that? It must be a fairly serious difference!

I have heard though that the spiders got there before you human folk got there and built sydney! No the most harm the spiders are going to do here is frighten the life out of me! I am quite accustomed to spiders up to 2 inches in diameterish - I don't mind those - anything above that and there are like a whole other member of the household that needs evicting! (sorry for the double post - FTY I was still typing my post when you posted yours!). Yes - I'd love to visit Oz but I'd be like Ron the whole time with your freaky spiders... who would live in such lands?

I feel a Brit-Aussie slanging match beginning... and the cricket has not even started yet! But it brings to mind one of my fave quotes from PoA - 'The spiders want me to tap-dance and I don't wanna tap-dance Harry!' 'You tell those spiders Ron'

No, Oz does look amazing, I'd learn to dive if someone said I could have a ticket to Oz... you have some amazing reefs! I'd also love to try surfing, the waves are a bit teeny tiny here! Although it is possible down in Cornwall where the fetch comes all the way from Florida (assuming the winds are travelling their usual way). Hmmm... but I'd have to see Sydney and the Opera house from a spider checked Helicopter ... argh! Imagine if I'd been 2 years younger and I'd applied for that PhD we were chatting about earlier FTY and I lived in Oz... I'd have to live in the next room to you so you could throw them out for me if they came-a-visiting!

I was just kidding, we all know that this is the most beautiful country in the world No bias or anything Yep, the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland is gorgeous, but you better come here soon, its disappearing sadly thanks to pollution and increasingly warm waters which breed this parasite called the *something* starfish which destroys coral.

Yes true, and as the waters heat, a slower process of the coral "bleaching" (the water is too hot, it dies, goes white - 'bleaching') is a real worry! Gah! Stop driving everywhere everyone! Skate, take a train or walk!

me? Oh... erm - thank you! A bit of that weather would do me nicely - can you get it all in an envelope You already have to "keep" FTY in her Harry Potter lollipop addiction so you are already helping a load... that's not to say if you see some cool HP related item I might like that I would say no

Much appreciated as always! Roz, i am going to keep an eye out for any 'Aussie exclusives' here for you - LOTR or HP. Sorry we can't send you the weather (tried to get it past customs, but got caught ), you will have to come over here and see it for yourself If I see a nice piece of Australiana that I can send in a parcel, I will let you know!

Cripes, well thanks! Yes I got import taxed on the sunshine - it amounted to the cost of 170 summer holidays so I "returned to sender" thanks for the thoughts though.
