I started tracking this PTL card number thing as well. I sent the winner of a PTL an e-mail. Here is his verbatim reply:

>>hi john, sorry for the delayed response i have been away and not picked up my emails. the pear tree leaf card i have is unnumbered. I got it from sky high comics. He said it was authentic. I got it checked out and its just been missed off 0he numbering. I have shown a few people and they sayits authentic. So a 1 of a kind. I know two other pear tree leaf cards. MPC have one and Cards inc. i saw this at the nec memorabilia in april. cheers, paul <<

UNNUMBERED!!!!!!!! Imagine that. I wonder how many of these things are running around loose?

Ooh this was a whole can of worms... stand by we have some threads on this I'll find for you.

Here you go - I doubt the ebay link still works, but the seller is the same that your friend mentions Smiley

Yes, i remember this card. Maybe you find the discussions here anywhere. There hasn't been many who talked about the card in a positive way. I wouldn't like to have an unnumbered card. Although it was so cheap. Not good.  Roll Eyes

So, I guess the bottom line is that the card never sold and has not been heard of since.

There was a second auction where it had a start price of like a dollar or a cent of something... I'll try and find another thread for you Tongue

There:

I won't name names to protect the innocent (both parties will read this), but I remember when POA first came out, and the very first Buy-It-Now listing (still the "low" in the price guide) underestimated the eventual value. I admit that I spent some time figuring out when this seller posted during the day, and checking for new items for a while in an attempt to see them first, even though I wasn't supposed to be doing that from my computer at work. I didn't see any bargains like that one. But I will remember becoming aware of the value of time zones, and do check for new U.K. listings when people are awake over there but it's still 4 a.m. in the eastern U.S.  Wink

Yep, time zones are important.  It's great to be a stay at home mom and find an auction ending at 9:00am est.  Not many people on the east coast are checking for stuff at that hour, and most on the west coast are not up yet or getting ready for work. Wink

Hurray, we have a new auction, something we didn't have in the whole 2006 (last real auction was in August 2005) and i thought, we won't see any more of these on  Ebay! ...

But 18/30 is available now.  Shocked

I will watch this one, very interesting to see, what happens ...  Cool

And i like how the Permission Form looks ... Wink

Maybe my name could be added to the list besides #18.....I have waited nearly 2 years, to finally see one of these come up for auction...although again due to the new COS set the timing isn't of the greatest for me or I suppose other would be buyers
$1500 is one hell of a starting bid.....why not 99 cents and get some interest in the card Huh??

Once again, the dreaded "US Only" shipping rears it's ugly head  Angry Is there anyone in the US who would be prepared to bid for me? Not for the Pear Tree card, but for others from this seller. Please pm me if you have the funds and the trust  Praying

If Artbox could give birth, it would be a redemption with the real one arriving 9 months later

I'd love to know who is selling off a POA master set.  It would break my heart to sell the cards I have from that set.

The pear tree leaves card that's currently for sale originally sold for $1775 on May 31, 2004.

Not necessary, they will ship worldwide, i asked for that, but only for the PTL (just being curious, i won't bid).

Interesting Thomas - their auction made it sound like they categorically would NOT ship worldwide!  Undecided

A word of caution to anyone who plans on bidding on any of those cards - run a check on the negatives the seller has received AND given before you bid, as they aren't afraid of leaving negs!  Wink
