I just purchased a used game off of eBay. I got it today, and it looks great, but there is a small scratch on the back. I tried to wipe it, like an idiot, and put two even smaller scratches over the original one. You can not feel them with your finger at all, and I have seen discs in worse condition that play just fine. Do you think I will have a problem? The orignal scratch is more noticeable, but small, and the other two you can really only see when tilted in a certain light.

That is what I figured. I have had games in much worse condition and they work just fine too. I don't want to leave him feedback yet though, because I can't give this to my husband until his b-day, which is Monday. The guy did tell me if I had any problems, I could return it. Just made at myself for putting two more small (hard to see) surface scratches in it, but I know they are there, which is the problem.

Do you have an Electronics Botique or Game Store near you? If so give them a call and tell them what your problem is. They might have something available to remove the scratches. Just a thought.

Well, I looked at some other used games we bought at home and have played, and some are a lot worse than this one. I mean, a lot, and we never had problems. We have the gamedoctor thing, and I am sure if there is a problem, I could contact the seller, or go to a Gamestop that is walking distance from my house. I really think they are minor and I am just freaking out over nothing because I have it in hand, but need to wait until I give it to my husband to test it out. I will let you all know the results,. Thanks!

And stuck occasionally is okay, as long as you can reload and keep playing. I really think I am overreacting.

Well, with this game, it is Socom 2, and you can only save between levels, so we shall see. Again, it is a small scratch in one spot on the disc that you can not feel, so I think it is only a surface scratch. The guy has 100% feedback, so again, I am sure it will be fine. I just wanted others opinions. The PS2 seems to be pretty good with reading discs.

Yeah I'm sure it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I was glad when they started to bring out games you can save when you like (only it doesn't always go back to the exact spot), reather than having to find the check point. But then I am not a wonderful game player

Really, like what? Most games I uy are used off of eBay now, or used at the gamestore. Certain games, like the new HP one coming out, will be bought new the day it is released (like GTA was), but other than that, I like to wait and save money with eBay. What sort of problems have you had?

I've bought loads of used games before (have to with 4 kids!!!) and I can only think of one that didn't work. Luckally I got here in town and was able to return it. You should try taking it to a local video store. There is a machine that can clean the disc and it can also analyze how deep the scratch is and if will affect the game. I've had to clean many discs (sticky fingers, oops I droped it, etc). (yea yea yea we've heard them all)!

I also have game doctor too. That seems to help out with surface scratches.
