Any commments, good or bad, will be very useful. Also tell me if you like it better of worse than Bob or any of the other comics on the site. Tell me what you think of the art, humour, lack of colour etc.... spill your guts, let it all out!

Hmm ok... maybe I'll make a colour version and see what people think. Although if I'm going to colour any new strips I'm not going into all that elaborate shading that BYU gets as it just takes sooo long!

I think the black and white looks good and it is completely different from any of your other comics. Its good to have variety and to use different art styles.

Also by doing it in black and white it should be loads more easier to draw and get more toons made and put online.

So when can be look forward for the pirates to blow the yak shack right out of the water?

Arrrrrrrr! That thar be a positive comment! I don't know when but if enough people like it enough then I'll get on with it asap...

Any comments on the art style as well as just focusing on the lack of colour?

I think the idea was to bump up the number of comics Mark does by doing one colour and one b and w one a week

So by saying " I wantsss it in colour precioussss" you may be telling Mark to do only one per week!

Its a good idea to do one b+w and one colour. How much more is planned for Bob's your uncle? Will this still be the featured coloured comic on the weekend or is there anything else in mind?

Hmmm... I reckon the artwork's ace and a real nice new style for ya. Maybe just block colour would be good - it would liven it up and really do justice to the style of drawing. Grin

The problem is Mark than when people read your comics to themselves they just don't have the accents right... when you read them outloud they are pretty startling. Hows about providing flash files with sound so the cartoons are read outloud..

no I am just kidding

but what you need is a "pirate pronounciation" page so people can get up to speed before delving into your comics.

P.S. "Tiny"Tim that's one hell of a random pic.. and you best change your text from "I am a Ilama"  Grin

I'd just like to say that I didn't post the above... that was the lovely Roz who has inadvertantly posted using my account... I didn't THINK I remembered posting that, and refering to myself in the third person...

Well I'm glad everyone seems to like it Smiley I think I shall launch a brand spanking new site sometime to display them all and to rack up some big Pyrate themed hype!

And for you colourites, although I'm planning on (hopefully) releasing the strip twice a week when it goes mainstream on its own site I shall do every 7th strip in colour.  Every 7th? Am I mad? NO! Every 7th strip will be a "Sunday" strip, even though it may appear on a Wednesday. That way I can build up a portfolio similar to a regular published strip.

I hope that made sense. It did in my head, honest...  Undecided

I agree with lil bro tim, the second is the best Pyrates comic so far, top humour!

PS. Mark it's no good pretending that somewhere in your madness there is method. We simply will not believe you!

New viewer here, just want to say I like Pyrates. The dark outlines around the characters do make them stand out, but somehow also gives the feel of a coloring book. I expect them to appear with a pallet at the side and an area-fill brush so I can color it in myself. (Hey, not a bad idea...) I'd vote for color, but real simple, just a flat 16 color fill. The real idea of a comic strip is dialogue and character anyway. You've got some good text there so far, and looks like you can develop the theme.

Looking back at your archives, I can see your art has developed, and is much better now than it was in '98.
