Talk like a pirate day is fast approaching! The date: September 19th, all day, all around the world.

I'm hoping that everyone on the board will partake in this true celebration of the bucaneer and indeed Talk Like a Pirate on the 19th. Anyone who posts that day and does not utter a piratey phrase of one sort or another will WALK THE PLANK! I may even ban them for a week... you decide if I'm serious or not! I wouldn't be a true Pirate if I didn't issue threats Cap'n

For those of us that are totally unsavy when it comes to pirate speak but want to brush up ready for the 19th have a look at this site

http://www.io.com/~sj/PirateTalk.html

So to avoid being accused of being a landlubber or a scurvy dog have a look so Mark doesn't keelhaul you (I don't think I quite have the pirate accent yet though  Wink )

Arr this be a fine thread fer piratey talk! Although don't be wastin' all yer best lines before the day itself! And let's be makin' sure that the Piratey madness be spillin' out to other sections, not just here. Fer example:

"Ahoy there landlubbers! I be biddin' on a fine Harry Potter card on EBay and none of ye bilge swillin' scum had better be outbiddin' me or I'll run ye through! Arrrr!"

Ye be gettin' the idea Wink

Well it be gone eight bells and I be talking like a pirate all day.  Zee scurvy dogs on me poop deck(aka work) be looking at me as though I have drunk too much rum aaarrrr.  Which I cannot blame them for as me spoken pirate is as addled as me written pirate aarrr.

So with a aaaarrrrr and a yo ho ho I will avast and excuse the company of my lingo.   Cap'n

But Cap'n Mak, a favour is asked by one of your brethren.  Can the next theme day be Talk Like a Cockney - that I can manage  ROFL!

Godspeed!

(please also note I made Little Tiny Bill walk the plank today  Wink )

Gosh, talk like a cockney day? That sounds like fun too although they don't have quite as many catchphrases (at least none that rival 'YARRRRRRRR!'). I don't know how it came about (TLAPD) but I didn't invent it - which your post kind of sounds like, sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick! It's a recognised event (mainly by nutters on the internet)!

If anyone wants to suggest a day for Talk Like a Cockney day that'll be fine too Cheesy

Yep I knew TLAPD was international.  The talk like a cockney day was just a joke.  It seems like my efforts at humour are just about as good as my pirate speak  ROFL!
