Movie tie-in being developed by Broken Sword designer Charles Cecil

2K Games has signed an exclusive worldwide agreement with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to publish a game based on the movie adaptation of blockbuster novel The Da Vinci Code.

The game will be available for PS2, XBrick and GameCube and will offer "action-oriented suspense" as players uncover secret societies and ancient conspiracies.

It's being developed by The Collective, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Mark Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. Charles Cecil, who designed classic point and click adventure Broken Sword, recently joined The Collective and will be working on the game.

It will be released in May 2006 alongside the Da Vinci Code movie, which is being directed by Ron Howard. Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen and Jean Reno will star.

The Da Vinci Code was an instant hit when it was published last year and has since been translated into 42 different languages. More than 38.6 million copies have been sold worldwide - an average of over two million per month.

Basically this is fabulous news. Movie tie-ins are usuall very missable games, however, anyone who has played "Broken Sword" (like me) will be getting very excited, because guess what? Broken Sword had a templar twist also Wink Tongue and it's one of the best games of it's time IMHO Grin
