The seems to be THE taboo question of the milleneum.  No-one EVER mentions it.
Despite the fact that no films in the history of cinema ever had a cast list like them - or a production team their equal etc. they do not even warrant a mention and no one - INCLUDING THEIR MOST AVID FANS - says a single word.
What are we all afraid of - the withdrawal of funding?  Worth considering.  Anything else?  Please tell me and I'll shut up.

I don't think the academy takes kids films properly... it would never take out a big gong like best picture/actor/director. The films are enjoyable and cleverly made, but nothing spectacular enough to merit Academy consideration. Maybe minor prizes though - best score etc

Look how long it took the Academy to give honors to a great set of films like The Lord of the Rings.  I hope this action has opened the eyes of the folks who vote for the awards to take into account all films for consideration.  We can only hope.

Possible suggestions for Oscar consideration:

Costumes
Cinematography (breathtaking)
Music (John Williams is the best there is)
Special Effects (Quiddich, Hagrid etc)
Set design (Diagnon Alley, the Great Hall at Hogwarts etc.)

There are more catagories than acting.

First off LOTR got hardly any gongs (6 in 2 films) until ROTK - there are a lot of HP movies to come.

But I do agree the scenery is stunning, I thought Buckbeak was great but if youthink what is to come in CG _ Goblet - think of the dragons etc and think in OOP of the fireworks they will do (FOTR style) and the marshland and punting over the marsh that has to be done (hee hee - think I could get a job on set making the marshland look realistic???)

Go Fred and George - you make the special effects a NIGHTMARE!!!!
