Yes it is official Stargate Atlantis has been canceled  Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopping Mad despite the good ratings so far, the People's Choice award, and other things that make it mind boggling that sci fi canceled it at this time.  Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopping Mad I have read an interview by the creator of the show Brad Wright and he said it was a mutual decision on behalf of sci fi, MGM and them.  Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopping Mad

I won't get into what I thought if his interview here but here is something I posted in another board on my feelings about this decision:

So long to another great show that could have kept on going if it had the creators and channel that loved it just as much as its fans do.

I don't have the time or the heart to get involved in another series created by these people. I watched both SG1 and Atlantis for the cast and the stories not the name of the show.

I am also less then thrilled with being insulted and lied to on why Atlantis was being canceled, plus don't even get me started on there wanting a younger and fresher audience because that just ticks me off even more.

Congratulations Brad Wright, Sci Fi and MGM for the dumbest decision since the cancellation of SG1.

Not to mention people are allowed to be upset if they want to and if these posts would be seen by anyone official I would have written even more on how Wright and company keep screwing us fans over again and again. I fell for it twice now but I will be danged if I let them do it to me again.

So in conclusion as far as SG1 and Atlantis go I will keep enjoying you as long as I have you with the right cast in it that is, but as for Brad Wright and company so long and good riddance.

It also looks like they are going back to showing the second half of the season in January but I don't have all the details on that yet. I also have to wait two weeks to see the next episode of Atlantis again so I will be back later with a review on "The Shrine" for everyone here since there will be no review for an episode this coming week.

My favorite episodes of season 4 were "Doppelganger", "Tabula Rasa", "Miller's Crossing", "Be All my Sins Remember'd", "Trio", and "The Last Man". My least favorites were "Travelers" and "Quarantene" (my only favorite part in that one was the break up between McKay and Brown  Grin). I can't wait to get the DVD's not only to have the episodes but also because I want to see the special behind the scenes for the episode "Trio".  Smiley

Now onto the reviews of the last two weeks episodes  Grin I am going to do them out of the order they premiered because I want to save my favorite for last  Wink

"Whispers"

It starts out with two villagers walking in a fog filled forest and they get ambushed by something that comes out of the dark. Then we go to one year later and we are on Atlantis were McKay is asking Beckett why he is leaving after he just got back to Atlantis. They are interrupted by Sheppard who states that he needs Beckett to accompany him to a planet were a secret lab that Michael built was.

When they arrive at the planet they meet the all girl team of Major Anne Teldy, Captain Alicia Vega, Sgt. Dusty Wells, and Doctor Allison Porter. They lead the men to the lab to investigate it and they find 12 closed pods with what were once humans but are now hybrids of different experiments performed by Michael. The subjects are people that were stolen from the local village that was near the lab. The episode goes into a "Night of the Living Dead" theme when the people in the pods escape and start attacking the team.

This episode wasn't as bad as I thought it would be especially with the descriptions the spoilers gave of the all girl team. I have to say that while I didn't mind them as much as I thought I did I would prefer not to see them again especially since this is going to be the last season of Atlantis. I prefer the team I know and love to be seen from here on out  Azn All in all it wasn't bad for an episode but it also wasn't the best of the season either.

Now onto what I consider at this point my most favorite episode of Stargate Atlantis to date. This episode should get David Hewlett a nomination for some kind of award for the excellent job that he did in it.

"The Shrine"

This episode involves McKay getting stricken with a mental affliction which takes away his knowledge and memories, which in turn causes him to revert to a childlike state. According to Ronon and Teyla the disease ends up being something that the Pegasus Galaxy residents call the Second Childhood which is common among the very old.

We see Rodney go through a slow deterioration in the form of flashbacks and video footage which he and Keller make throughout the episode. Jeanie McKay is also in this episode and we see the team and her go through losing Rodney to this slowly deteriorating disease which we find out was caused by a parasite in Rodney's brain that they discovered to late to operate on to get out. Ronon tells them of a planet called Talus that has a shrine and it would allow Rodney to have one day of being normal so they could all say a final goodbye to him before he finally dies from this disease. There only problem was that the planet was inhabited by Wraith since the Replicator war.

This episode is a great character piece and I love all the interactions between the cast and guest star in there concern for McKay. They also had some great visuals that I think also deserve an award in my opinion especially the one with the team on top of the Stargate surrounded by water with only the wormhole for light.

It is episodes like these that I get even more upset with Brad Wright, Sci Fi and MGM for canceling SGA  Cry

Yep in agreement with your choices for season 4 wendi, I though "Quarantene" was a bit lame amd my fav had to be "Tabula Rasa" I like the sound of "Whispers" I like films that have zombies etc so it's two for the price of one LOL

I am little late with my reviews  Embarrassed so in this post you get two for one  Wink Grin

" The Queen"

This one starts off with a meeting with Todd the Wraith and a proposal to get his help to distribute a gene therapy that the SGA team found through Michaels research that would get the wraith off of sucking the lives out of humans. Todd in turn tells them that in order to do this they need to get the other wraith to trust him so he is in need of a Queen for his hive which in turn leaves Teyla going undercover as his Wraith Hive Queen.

This episode is full of double crosses and you just don't know how it will turn out until the very end. The character moments were great and I just love the concern the team shows for Teyla when she goes undercover pretending to be a wraith queen.

I actually liked this episode but I have to say that I don't know if what they did will eventually help them in the end or if they will end up regretting it but I guess only time will tell  Undecided

Now onto the next episode:

"Tracker"

McKay and Ronon volunteer to assist Dr. Keller with a medical follow-up away from Atlantis. When they reach the planet McKay and Ronon leave Jennifer alone with a patient only to return and find out that she has been kidnapped. Ronon begins to track her abductor while McKay runs back to the Stargate to radio for assistance but just as he reaches the D.H.D. some Wraith come through the gate. He catches up to Ronon and they decide to start tracking Keller themselves before the kidnapper and her get to far ahead and also before the wraith find them.

I felt so bad for Rodney at the end of this episode though and I can tell you this much I really hope he wins what he is after over Ronon  Praying

I liked this episode because it really let us know how strong Keller really is as a character on the show. Also I loved the beginning scene with McKay and Sheppard it was so cute and funny. The only thing I was sad about was that I thought we would see a little friendship between Ronon and Rodney but instead Ronon was a little more annoying then usual for me in some of his treatment of McKay. I am so glad that I like Sheppard as a character better because I can barely tolerate Ronon sometimes  Angry Roll Eyes

Now onto other news which isn't so great sounding to me at least because it makes Universe sound even more like a 90210 in space. Here is what the casting call looks like for the characters of the new show:

Colonel Everett Young

40's handsome, capable, former SG team leader. Like the Jack O'Neill of ten years ago, but Young's edges have tended to sharpen over time. He requested permission to serve the remainder of his commission on Earth upon marrying his wife, Hailey, two years ago, but for now he's temporary commander of a secret off world base. The loss of two members of his team several years ago has taught him never to take anything for granted, and be prepared for anything. He stays on top of his team so they stay alive. STAR NAMES ONLY. SERIES REGULAR;

Tamara Jon
20-25, all ethnicities (Asian Preferably). SGC Field medic, Captain grade. Off world experience. Beautiful, tough, smart, capable. Paramedic level training. Able to triage serious injury. Modest background. Dreamed of being a doctor but couldn't afford medical school and the Air Force was her best option. She ends up being the most medically inclined person on the ship but is overwhelmed by the lack of knowledge and experience treating seriously wounded and ill patients. She also lacks the medicine and supplies and has to make do. SERIES REGULAR;

Chloe Carpenter
20ish. Stunning and sexy. Daughter of a U.S. Senator. Silver spoon upbringing and a little spoiled but not stupid either. Politically and socially savvy. Dreams of following in her father's footsteps but for now she's a bit of a party girl in her first year at an Ivy League school. Her father's tragic death and the dire circumstances of being trapped on a spaceship seriously tests her character. SERIES REGULAR;

Eli Hitchcock
20-25. Total slacker. Utter genius. Mathematics, computers, anything he puts his mind to. Acerbic sense of humor. A social outcast. Comes from a broken home. Lacks confidence because his true intelligence has never really been recognized like Matt Damon's character from Good Will Hunting with a little Jack Black thrown in sptv050769. SERIES REGULAR;

Lt. Jared Nash

20-25. Junior S.G.C. team member. Officer material but green and rough around the edges. Every teenage girl's fantasy. Like a college quarterback thrown into his first pro game, he is thrust into the role of leader well before he's ready for the responsibility and must learn to take command, earn respect through action, and manage the diverse personalities on the ship to keep everyone alive. Like Jason Bourne, he is skilled and well-trained however he is mentally unprepared for the urgency of the situation. SERIES REGULAR;

Ron "Psycho" Stasiak
20, all ethnicities. Marine. Big, strong, silent. You want him on your side. You don't want him mad at you. Lacks control over his temper in non combat situations. His past is a mystery but it's clear something dark formed the hard shell around him. Yet, there must also be some moral center because otherwise he'd kill everyone around him. Think Eric Bana's character "Hoot" in Blackhawk Down. SERIES REGULAR.

I always new that one scene in the episode "200" with those young cast members would bite us fans in the butt someday  Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopping Mad

Onto some really good news after that depressing news:

Grin Grin Grin Grin NEXT WEEK DANIEL JACKSON AND RODNEY MCKAY TOGETHER FOR PART ONE OF A TWO EPISODE STORY...YIPPPEEE!!!!!!!!! CAN YOU TELL I AM EXCITED  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Sorry for taking so long with the latest reviews but with "Sanctuary" splitting them up for it's premiere two weeks ago I finally got to watch them both this last week. Embarrassed

I wanted to wait until I saw both parts of these episode before I reviewed either of them since it would be easier that way at least to me  Wink I would have done it earlier this week but things have been a little hectic what with visiting my sister over the weekend and catching up on other shows I watch with the new season of brand new shows starting.  Grin Sadly one of my favorites may be canceled due to low ratings   Cry If it is then I will lose two great shows this year, "Stargate Atlantis" and "Pushing Daisies"  Cry Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopping Mad  Cry

Anyway on with the reviews of the last two episodes  Smiley

"First Contact" PART ONE

When I watch episodes like these two I get even more upset and mad at the people behind the scenes for canceling such a great show and for such a stupid reason  Hopping Mad

Dr. Daniel Jackson (SG1) comes to Atlantis to do some research on the Ancient scientist named Janus ("Before I Sleep") and discovers he may have a secret lab hidden somewhere in the city. Daniel is given Rodneys help in finding this secret lab. Meanwhile Rodney is not to happy about Daniels arrival in Atlantis due to feeling like he has already followed up on any leads that were promising regarding Janus and his experiments. The banter back and forth between Rodney and Daniel is something to watch but listen carefully because they both have the ability to talk fast, LOL. I am going to miss the chance to see these two work together again in the future. Sad When they finally do discover the secret lab and turn on the  ancient equipment it causes a signal to be sent to a mysterious group of new aliens who head for Atlantis. It ends up with Rodney and Daniel being kidnapped by these aliens along with a piece of equipment that was in the lab which leads to Sheppard having to rescue them.

Meanwhile in the second part of the story (or B Plot) Woolsey,  Dr. Keller and Ronon aboard the Daedalus to make way to Tod's Hive ship to test Keller's gene therapy on live wraith that will help them not to have to eat humans for nourishment (mentioned in "The Queen") which left Sheppard in charge of Atlantis. They welcome Todd to the ship but events take a turn for the worse when he suspects them of betrayal after one of his hive ships blow up when going into hyperdrive, which in turn causes him takes control of the Daedalus.

then we get the lovely To Be Continued... sign  Roll Eyes

"The Lost Tribe" PART TWO

Todd has seized control of the Daedalus and locks the crew up in order to shut down a machine called the "Attero device", which causes Hive ships to blow up when they enter hyperdrive. the only people not caught on the Daedalus were Ronon and Keller who have to themselves try to find a way to take control back of the ship.

Meanwhile, Sheppard and the group known as The Travelers ("The Travelers") have to get to the planet before Todd does because that is were Daniel and Rodney have been taken to after being kidnapped on Atlantis. While they are all doing those things Rodney and Daniel find themselves having to find a way to turn off the device because it has an unfortunate side affect when in use which could cause millions to perish. When they actually find out who the new group of new aliens are you will find yourself just as shocked as they were  Shocked Let's just say WOW on who they ended up being and I have to say I didn't see it coming.

One of the other parts about this episode that I loved was not only Daniel being in it but we also finally found out who Keller was interested in and I was very happy to say it was not at all who I thought the writers would give her  Grin I just hope that with only 9 episodes left  Cry they don't screw it up  Praying

While I liked part one better I have to say that these two are some of the best episodes of Atlantis and not to repeat myself but I am really disappointed that we are losing this show when it is hitting its stride. I love Woolsey as the new leader, he does a great job without being a jerk, and I would have loved to have seen the show go on for a while longer.

I won't hold my breath for these people to change their minds but at least we are getting a movie next year. The only thing I am really upset about right now is that they shoved the character of Sam Carter in the series finale and they may yet shove her in the Atlantis movie  Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopping Mad I was hoping that the actress would be so busy with "Sanctuary" that we wouldn't have to see her face again on "Atlantis". It makes me mad that for a show I love ending she has to take away scenes from the cast I want to see.  Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopping Mad

Now onto my review of "The Outsiders":

This episode brings back Dr. Beckett and we finally get to see him interact with Rodney instead of a guest star of the week which was nice.

We find him working as a doctor in a village were the villagers took in refuges who survived the Hoffan plague that Michael spread to the populations on different planets. The wraith arrive at the village while Beckett and Sheppard's team are there and they demand the village turn over the survivors to them or they will destroy the villagers. The reason the wraith want the survivors is because they are now immune to the wraith feeding and the wraith want to deal with them in there own way because if any wraith do feed on them they will be killed.

Some of the villagers want to turn them over while others who became friends with the survivors want to save not only themselves but them as well. It is up to Sheppard and his team to figure out a way for both groups to survive. While all this happens someone in the village betrays the team and causes Beckett and McKay to be caught by the wraith. They now have to find a way off of the wraith ship and get back to the team.

I found the most exciting thing about this episode was the scenes were Beckett and McKay had to find a way off the hive ship. This wasn't a bad episode but it wasn't one of the best ones either for me. For a last season I would love to see the team together more instead of with Guest Stars of the week.

I have to find the tape that I recorded last weeks episode "Inquisition" on and then I will review that one when I get the chance. There won't be an episode for the Halloween weekend since the show has been postponed for two weeks so I can review last weeks episode in it's place  Wink

Hello Again  Smiley

I am just posting this to say how much fun I had reviewing and talking about Stargate SG1 and Atlantis with you guys. If anyone wants to review Universe for other people here feel free to do it here for anyone to enjoy. I don't now if I plan on watching it at all from all the spoilers about it, not to mention I don't trust the behind the scenes people anymore and I am tired of there lies and the way they talk down to the fans who don't agree with their views. Time will tell though and maybe Universe may surprise me but until then I am still on the fence about it. I guess you can also say I am still resentful of how a great show like Atlantis got canceled because of it despite what certain people try to tell you otherwise  Hopping Mad

I didn't finish reviewing SGA because no one was posting back and I don't like breaking the rules of the double posts if I can help it.Plus I figured by now everyone here has scene the final episodes and didn't need reviews for it  Wink  I am only posting now to thank everyone who looked here and responded and commented with me about Stargate. It is nice coming to a forum to talk about a show you enjoy without getting your head bit off if you don't agree with another person  Grin

I do look forward to the upcoming Stargate Atlantis movie that they are planning on making, but I am also upset about it because they plan on killing a main character in it and with my luck it will end up being McKay  Cry The Stargate SG1 movie is a wait and see also because according to spoilers it is going to be about Jack O'Neill. I mean no offense to anyone who loves O'Neill but for this fan I grew tired of him back in season 7 when he wasn't even trying to be the Jack I loved from the earlier seasons. He has become a joke of his former self and not a character that I care to watch an entire movie about. Another thing I don't like about it being all about him is that if he is in it then you can bet it is a sure thing that the Jack/Sam relationship rears its ugly head again for the movie.  Hopping Mad Roll Eyes

I didn't mean to start ranting there, sorry about that  Embarrassed Anyway thanks again for reviewing with me and reading the posts. I guess I just wanted to come on and say good bye to the cast of Stargate Atlantis. I will miss reviewing episodes on there adventures through the gate every week  Cry

does anyone know when Atlantis Season 5 will be out on DVD?

Also I heard that Stargate will be having another movie out later this year per my friend asking Ben Browder when she met him at a convention and also she said that Joe Flanigan had said there was an atlantis movie in the works. I love both shows and if they do both of the shows in movie formats, then perhaps that will do better than on tv? I have the basic cable so no longer have sci-fi and have to wait for the seasons to be released on DVD.. Sci Fi and Disney and Lifetime are the only channels I really miss when I don't have the standard cable channels anymore. *sighs*

Hello Keltoi  Smiley I will be happy to answer your questions about Stargate Atlantis and SG1  Wink

Quote
does anyone know when Atlantis Season 5 will be out on DVD?

The release date for the season five DVD set is June 30th. There is no word yet on the special feautures but I am hoping with this being the last set to be released that they are good.

The Stargate SG1 was green lit but now they are stating their is supposed to be a SGA film but nothing has been confirmed yet. The only thing about the SG1 movie is that it is supposed to be centered around Jack so I don't know what that means for the other characters. As for SGA the rumors going around this one is if they do write it then it is possible a major character will be killed off. I would love a movie for both but the Jack centered idea doesn't thrill me personally and I am afraid that with the SGA movie my favorite character could be the one they decide to kill off  Undecided

If you have anything else you would like to know just ask and I will see of I can find the information for you. I miss SG1 and SGA so much that it is nice to talk with other fans that miss them as much as I do and like to know what is going on with the movies and so on.

Ooh that soon? I need to put it in my netflix queue request then.. .. speaking of atlantis, Best buy is having a great sale this week on tv shows dvd. I got the whole 4 seasons for $75.00.. would have been $85.00 but I had a $10.00 gift card and each season was $19.99... Not a bad deal... Original price would have been $47.00 each so I think I got lucky and saved quite a bitof money. *hehe

ooh I really hope they aren't killing Jack off but then again he really hasn't been in the movies a lot anyways even though he is also one of my favorite characters.. To be honest I like everyone on the team but still on the fence about Vala as I couldn't warm up to her.. I think Continuum opened up a lot more questions for me such as did Cam know all along that he was going to be in the SG1 team? was that why he was soo eager to join them? as when I watched Continuum a lot of things started making sense for me that didn't when the show was on... such as cam's eagerness to join the team and etc etc..

as for the SGA movie, for me it is confirmed as my friend saw Joe Flanigan about 2 weeks ago at a convention where she was nice enough to get me his and jason momoa's autographs and he said the movie was a go but didn't know when it would be filmed. I'd asked her to ask him where the name of his character came from as I noticed while rewatching mcgyver that there had been a John Shepard helping michael Greenburg with the show and wondered if that was where the name came from and ofc my friend said Joe couldn't tell her where it came from as he didn't know.

That is a great deal for four seasons. Grin I still need seasons 4 and 5 but with my job situation they will just have to wait. Thank goodness I have them on tapes until then  Smiley

I think you misunderstood me with which show they might possibly be killing a character off of. The character will be killed off of Stargate Atlantis not SG1  according to the rumors going around;)

I also  believe that as long as the same people run the show who usually do that Jack will forever remain safe and as immature as he became in the later seasons of the show. It will also be a cold day in Hades before they even think of killing off the characters of Jack and Sam seeing as how the sun couldn't shine enough out of these two characters butts to the behind the scenes guys of these shows. I worry more about my favorite characters because they are the ones most likely to be in danger of being killed off. Hopping Mad Cry  especially if they are a threat to there national treasure.
