Just curious if anyone watches or likes reality TV?  I do like the Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, Big Brother and of course the originals like the Real World and Road Rules.

I am just getting some stuff done around the house til the Bachelor is on!  My friends always say I should submit a tape for it and it always makes me laugh ROFL!

...our bachelor isn't rich, is a sales rep for a company, likes to collect trading cards...always a plus with the Ladies Tongue

Of course my biggest positive of reality TV is that you don't have to worry about watching it faithfully for 10 episodes of an hour each and then find out it is cancelled with no answers at all Hopping Mad

You forgot "has been photographed dressed as a woman." ROFL!

I like reality TV, but only certain shows.  I prefer Survivor (new season getting ready to start), Big Brother, and The Amazing Race.

I don't get reality TV at all. I watched one Big Brother series because one of Britain's favourite Aussies (from Cambridge) was on it - Germaine Greer.

But alas, even she couldn't revive it from dull-dom. Although she did try. I think she walked off the show early in a huff in the end Grin

I was totally hooked a few years ago when they first started.  But now there are far too many with 'celebrities' aka washed out has beens.  The current series of Big Brother is just painful.  I have seen two shows and probably won't watch any more - it is borderline cruelty.  They have managed to screen a modern day freakshow with the only outcome likely to be nervous breakdowns and / or suicide attempts (and for those not in the UK this is no exaggeration).

The ones I have loved recently have been The Apprentice and Strictly Come Dancing.  Harmless family entertainment not shock TV.

Survivor and Amazing Race are my favorites.  I also liked The Mole when it was on long ago.  I never could get into Big Brother or The Bachelor, but my Mom loves those 2 shows.  My husband watches The Apprentice, so I usually watch it with him, although it's #3 on my list.
I remember Real World when it was on for the first year and I thought it was great for a few years after that, but after Hawaii it all went downhill from there.  Now it's just young people making fools/sluts of themselves on national television.  But if you want to watch a real train wreck check out the Sureal Life on VH1.  Uuuug. I am not sure if this counts as reality TV but I remember watching a program about people trying to be like the first settlers in America.  They were given the basics to start out with, just like the original pioneers and then they had to survive on their own.  That was very interesting.

I have to admit to being a fan of the Osbourne's and that one with Paris Hilton  ROFL!

My all time favorite reality show.  Wish it would come back.

I am a sucker for these shows.  Love Amazing Race, but it is getting old for me.  Like Survivor, but only because we bet on it at work, and we each pick a person from a hat.  If your person wins, you win the pot!  Of course, as soon as my person is voted off, I tend to stop watching.  I like American Idol, but swear I will not watch it this year.  I just can't do it.

Actually, I watched them all at one point or another and then got bored of them.  I will probably continue to watch Amazing Race and Survivor, but don't know if I can handle more than that.

I'm pretty sure that's the PBS series "Colonial House".  They also did "Frontier House" and this year is "Ranch House".  Those seem to be pretty cool - and NOT influenced by ratings.

The only one I watch now is Amazing Race.  I admit I watched the first Average Joe.

I watched the first Average Joe, the first Temptation Island and the first Bachelor.  I couldn't take the dating reality shows after them.  I only like Amazing Race because I can see so many other parts of the world.  I stopped watching the family edition because I got bored that they stayed mostly in the States.

I was thinking I was a little reality TV'd out, so I picked some shows that weren't RTV this year and thought I would give them a try.  It sure feels like a waste of time when you give a show a chance and it is cancelled 10 episodes or so in.  It really PO's me when that happens.  I was watching the show Reunion (which I thought was a really good "who done it" show) and Threshhold (which I was so so on as it hadn't really developed much yet).

It is nice to know if you are going to watch a show like Amazing Race it isn't going to be pulled after you have watched it for 10 weeks.  Interesting note for our Florida members the (next) real world series was filmed in Key West.  When I was there on vacation in October for a week we had heard they were filming in KW.  Sure enough we went to the dance club (to get my groove on/bust a move ROFL!) one night and they showed up a few hours later.  Two of them went over to the balcony (about 5 feet from where we were sitting) and looked like they were having a lovers spat Tongue.

Needless to say we all made sure we weren't even close to the camera's range of filming.  The crew looked like they were super bored and or about ready to push them over the balcony.  I bet you have some interesting stories if you are working on the crew.  As well as lots of long boring days following them around.

Not too keen on it myself, I like some Drama but that cost a lot more than just pointing a camera at people. However I do like the historical ones, like the 1900s house edwardian house, 1940s house and of course the Regency House party who I have met some lovely freinds from and because of ;-D

My favourites are Survivor and the Amazing Race.  I also loved Rockstar INXS too!  My husband is totally disgusted with the fact that I watch them.  His favourite comment is that he watches lots of reality tv - the rugby.

I like Bueaty and the Geek, has anyone else seen or is watching it?

Amazing race is good, although I question the reality of the show after the season (I think it was the one before the family season).

I don't think there is any way that the couple (who actually ended up winning) who were in second place on the last leg could have got on the flight that the first place couple was on.  That had to be totally fixed.  I think the plane was leaving from the Dominican Republic which must have to follow US flight regulations.

In todays air travel world there is no way a plane would let someone board after they retracted the ramp.  Although I wanted the couple who won, to win, it just would never be allowed.  Did anyone who saw that think the same thing?

Absolutely, Dave!  I thought that someone from the show actually pressured the airlines to let them on.  NO WAY would that ever happen for any normal people like you or me.  They needed an exciting ending and they made sure they got one!

I hate reality TV. Nuff said.

Alot of my friends love it... Australian Idol, Survivor, Amazing Race etc etc. I am glad to say none watch Big Brother - I don't know about other countries, but last year's lot of idiots (season 5? Or was it 6? No idea) were apparently the worst lot ever. Put 12 bogans in a house, add nudity and alcohol and it still rates. Its not even funny anymore Roll Eyes

I watched Threshold and Reunion too, and I really like Reunion. Makes me so angry they cancelled it like that....although, I should know better.  Many shows I tend to like, especially on FOX, managed to die before the season ends.

As for Reality, they can indeed cancel them before the end.  I was watching Last Comic Standing (I think it was the 3rd and final season), and they decided to cancel the show right before the last episode!!!!  So you didn't get to see who won...although, you could read about it online.
