I stuck a low bid in fully expecting to be outbid. I woke up and to my surprise, I actually won it

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6261208793&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:AU:11

The last box in the PG went for $70.

Any thoughts?

I'm too busy with LOTR Evolution to even THINK about anything else...

That being said, I don't know that I'd chance getting a POA box knowing there are dud boxes out there...

I didn't think that PoA had as much of a problem with dud boxes than PoA update...

Well, its worth a gamble, huh? Wink

Absolutely, it's worth the gamble!  Prices had to come down eventually, besides tialessa made a good point about collectors being  basically obsessed with other sets at the moment.

Now the question is... to open or to sell? Obviously not to sell now, but maybe a bit later on when the HP nostalgia kicks in Wink

I have only purchased three boxes of POA orginial.  One of the three was a complete dud.  So that was entirely disappointing.  It would be terrible to buy a single box like this and get nothing out of it (aside from the sheer anticipation and joy, which is worth something to some of us  Cheesy).  But that said, if I found any single boxes on ebay for around 70-80$ I would defiently take a shot.

Totally wrong - of the 5 boxes I had 3 were duds (i.e. foil and base, no autos/costumes)

What is in POA that is so valueable that it is worth much risk???  I have two spare Weasley Robe cards #/1300 from the set I listed twice once with a BIN of $12.99 and once for $9.99 neither sold Undecided  Collectors used to be excited to pull one of those cards, now they don't even want them.  I don't believe that boxes or cases of cards are a good investment for the long term at all.  For a short term investment maybe (of course a high risk one).  Most sets seem to have a short attention span.  Look at some of the cheap prices the POA cards go for now compared to a couple of years back.  I think more collectors dump there cards then are looking to add on old sets.  Just my 2 cents.

Now you have over 500 SS wizard candy cards to select from and look at all the great variants to choose from.  Plus some of the big auto's have been repeated in the other sets since then.

I only got one box of this set for $50, after they were out for a while.  The seller didn't realize they were going for $200 at the time.  I pulled George's auto, Hermiones black robe and a Dervish and Bang prop Shocked There are some rare props, Hermione's auto and her pink sweater that would allow me to take a gamble on another box for $70-$80.  With that sad, even the price you got yours for was a huge bargain in my opinion!  Tought call to open or sell though.  The question is, how many cards do you already have from this set?  If not many, open it.  If you have a lot and fear dups, sell it Wink
