We bought a bearded dragon for my daughters birthday!  She will be 7 on the 22nd.  The lizard's name is Kami which supposedly means "spiny lizard" in Aborigine.  We thought an Aborigine name would be appropriate since these  lizards are from Australia.  It's the BEST!  She eats loads of crickets and will even eat meal worms out of Jordan's hands.  Has anyone ever had one of these?  Do any of you Aussie gals have any advice or funny stories about them?  Do you ever see them roaming around in the wild?

Wow, what a beautiful lizard Cheesy   I really think this is the perfect pet for your daughter, since I am a reptile fan myself.  I wish you all the best with your new pet.

Congrats Grin

Oh Australia hey mate.  I think they like Outback Steakhouse food.  Try feeding it a bloomin onion Roll Eyes  How old is it, doesn't look like it has it's beard yet just a little stubble.   Are they good pets when they get bigger?  You should have named him Mick Dundee Crewman  Or Lord Voldemort

Oh dave!  Roll Eyes
Jordan said that the lizard is a girl, so we needed a girl name.  I wanted to call it Draco.  I think I'll make a small sign for the front door that says "Here there be dragons".  ROFL!

I thought I would post the new home Phil and I made for Jordan's lizard.  It's approx 3 feet wide X 2 feet deep.  He built it and I stained it and added the rock wall, tile and cave.  I also picked out the drawer pulls.  I figured since it was going to be in our livingroom, it should fit with our other furniture which is dark.  The stain job actually looks a lot better than the photo!  You can't see any streaks in real life.  Wink
My goal was to have the cleanest reptile enclosure possible, so I put ceramic tile on the floor insted of sand for quick and easy clean up.  The rocks are cemented together with aquarium caulk and I also used the caulk on the corners of the enclosure.  The rock wall was made from styrofoam and grey tile grout.  The grout was sealed with a waterproof and anti-microbe solution.  Grin

The extention cords have since been replaced with a timer.  The bottom part is made from 2 kitchen cabinets.  The top opens upward so I can change the lights.

Small but mighty!

Here are 2 more of my projects.  A Lego table for Jordan and Kendall.

A corner table for thier Playmobil stuff with underneath storage.

Thanks!  I have all his supplies in the top left drawer.  The other drawers and the cabinet are extra storage for odds and ends which we really needed.  BTW, I figured out that he's a he instead of a she so we changed his name from Kami to Koche.  It still means lizard in aboringine, but it sounds more masculine.  Roll Eyes

What kind of lizard do you have, Jackie?  I can look up the website we used for part of the plans if you want.  We modified it to make it deeper and added the bottom storage.

We have an Iguana! Right now he has a screened cage that is 30"W X 48"H X 17"D.
We are going to stay with the screen idea, just need to figure out an easier way
to clean it!  Undecided

Oh, never mind then.  You'll be building one vertical, not horizontal like mine.  But you could add a waterfall!  I wish I could have done that, but Bearded Dragons can get repiratiory infections from too much humidity.

We had bought one of those portable waterfalls for him once and
we had a horrible time with gnats!! So we got rid of it!!  Undecided (I think
what caused this was the combination of live plants (because this is
what he eats also) and the water).  Tongue

Well, instead of taking over Sharon's thread...I'll hijack this one!!  Grin

We just build a new cage for our Iguana, Razor.
Here is a picture of the store bought cage before...
(yes, that is duct tape covering a hole that the little
fella scratched a hole through  Roll Eyes )

And here is the new one we build out of our "special wood" that my husband
makes furniture and decks out of...

Not too shabby!!  Wink  Grin

Great job, Jackie!  Now that I see yours, I may get Phil to make our lizard something like that so he can go outside.  He would LOVE it.
