Hey Everyone
SO who is going to able to attend Comic Con this year?Huh?
This time Julie and I will be able to attend preview night for if nothing else to
learn the layout with out the really massive crowds.
I'm curious about who the studios will be bringing has Anyone heard anything yet
I keep looking but haven't found anything so either nothing has been announced
or I'm looking in the wrong place. Huh

Rich,
I will be going for my second year now! Preview night is like a golden ticket lol. You get a feel for the layout, as well as the Bible (Program) so you can plan out every day where you need to be and at what time.

I did a little researching (because my brother is the same way...cannot wait to find out who will be there since it is his first time) and last year the complete list of Panals was made on July 7th. So I would imagine it will be another couple weeks before we hear anything. I do know there will be a Spiderman 3 panal, or at least some sort of big event where they plan to (rumor of course) unveil and possibly show each of the now 4 villians that will be in Spiderman 3. So that should be cool.

I'll be going for the sixth time this year.  Probably Friday-Sunday, but I haven't quite decided yet.  I've found that I don't need to go five days (including preview night) any more.  3 days is enough.  The only thing I have heard so far is that people from The 4400 are supposed to be going.  Who and when I don't know yet though.  Crossing my fingers that it is on a day that I am going to be there.  Praying

Well if that's true Shocked=I'll be bringing the poster I had signed last year. Who knows maybe I'll get to finish it. Grin
Last Year was too cool I got to meet Kate Beckinsale and Charlize Theron and briefly Ben Browder and I got a Farscape in Motion card signed by Him. A very nice guy by the way.
I know what made it for Julie was meeting the Serenity cast. She said everyone was just super nice and I can agree about Adam Baldwin, Morena Baccarin and Summer Glau. I got to meet them in Pasadena this past March.
Here's to another fun year.

Sorry - for me the words "San Diego" can "Fun" do not go hand in hand. So not going this year; although I'm sure there'll be some other Rittenhouse reps there, but we have no details yet - I'm almost certain you can count on Con Exclusive promos though Smiley and who knows what else...

Bogleg was trying to find a way to go this year but the price of the air tickets practically double for the Comic Con period.  He even researched flying to another state and getting an internal flight but they seem to have thought people might do that and increased those fares as well.

It would probably be cheaper to go live out there for a month or something.....those prices are absolutely nuts!! I'm not surprised those internal flight companies cottened on to hiking the prices up!! DAMN!! maybe another show!! I might have even considered Celebration IV, but May isn't a good time!!! Geez.. will i ever get over to the state for convention??

I guess that's one good thing about living here in California. We're driving down and the hotel is about 5 miles south right off I-5. Granted the hotel is still painful but with no airfare it's managable. The thing I'm happy about is I've been saving My vacation time
so I get paid also. That I can live with.
It would be cool if Us shackers did kind of what Non-Sport Update does with it's members with the members breakfast. Or is there something like that and I'm just oblivious Huh I think it would be fun to meet some fellow shackers.

Sorry! I really would like to see you - but let me try to put it in perspective *lol*

Fly two children - 8 and almost 3 - across country
Try, and I emphasize the word *try* to find a hotel that either has two room or will provide a sleeper sofa that does not cost $400 A NIGHT!
Make them sit either at a booth (the 8 year year old) or in daycare (the three year old) ALL DAY
Try, and I emphasize the word *try* to find food when the convention closes where there isn't an hour long wait AND is decently priced
Sleep and start the whole thing the next day.

The kids were exhausted, I was exhausted and frustrated and pretty angry by the end and I don't think anyone enjoyed much of a vacation at all. This year, we're headed to the beach - one week of NO WORK, all play family time Smiley

Has anyone heard about what guests the studios are bringing. The Lions Gate booth was fun last year. I'm hoping for a Thomas Jane repeat and Lions Gate is also releasing the new Highlander film so the fingers are crossed for Adrian Paul, Peter Wingfield and Jim Byrnes. When I hear news I'll be sure to post.

Julie and I went but it was either autographs or panels so we went for the signings. Together We met Shawn and Marlon Wayans, we both got tickets(only 60) to meet Jason Statham and Efren Ramirez and Julie got a picture with Mr Statham,Henry Rollins, Ron Killings and Christy Hemme of TNA wrestling,The cast of Blade: The Series and they were the nicest group of people and We both drew tickets (only 100) for a signing for The Grudge 2 and got to meet Amber Tamblyn. We also met Olivia who is one the finest artists around today. Another great group was Tim Sullivan, Wendy Kremer and Lin Shaye who were there to promote 2001 Maniacs.
This movie is so much fun and VERY Politically Incorrect but in a surprisingly inoffensive way.so if You like a good horror comedy or as Mr.Sullivan who directed the film nicknamed it SPLATSTICK this movie is for You. Robert Englund stars as the Mayor need I say more.
This movie is not for everyone it is gory but it is done in a tounge in cheek manner.
Julie Met Elvira, Bryan Singer and pulled a ticket (only 50)to get autographs from director Mark Steven Johnson, Eva Mendes and Nicholas Cage , all of whom were there to promote Ghost Rider.
I got to meet Ryan Merriman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead from Final Destination 3, Frank Spotnitz who was a producer for the X-Files, Millenium and Night Stalker,Joss Whedon, Rosario Dawson who could not have been any sweeter and Jennifer Love Hewitt who was very nice as well.
We walked away with several DVD set courtesy of CBS, got lots of freebies including 2 Family Guy Sketches of Brian and Stewie at the Inkworks booth, Cynthia Cummens drew a Han Solo commisioned sketch for us and Julie bought a mystery box from Artbox and pulled a Harry Potter GOF update Quad card. So Yes We Had A Blast the folks We met were all Great.
The only downside was Julie didn't get to meet Gerard Butler but who knows maybe someday.
Have A Good Weekend Everyone

Cheers
