People who collect Harry Potter sets (me being one of them) are at a funny crossroads at what is truly a master set? The one in question that I've been pondering about is the oldest Artbox HP set out there...Sorcerers Stone..........Now we are all aware by now that at the SDCC this year they made available the SS House Tie sets....are they really part of the Master Set Huh? How can this be included in the master set 1 1/2 years after the release of the set.
Are they going to release more cards of SS in 2008, or even more Goblet of Fire say in 2009......Now don't get me wrong, my tie set in going in my SS binder with all my other cards from that set, but do they really belong there.... collectors who have spent allot of money/time/patience...over the last couple of  years and still counting for some people, have thought that their set was complete and was truly a master set and have put the set to bed looking for the next release now find that their set is now 4 cards short ?
Imagine them releasing Sorcerers Stone 10th anniversary set/or not even a set just 4 cards then a 20th anniversary 4 card set, WOULD THEY ALSO BELONG in the SS binder ?
..................to be continued I GUESS !!!!!!!!!

I'd say if you didn't have the new SS tie set you'd still have an SS master. After all not only were they release AGES after the original release but they don't even match the SS set.

It's nice, and of course I'll keep them with other SS cards, but no, I don't personally think they are essential to an SS set.

But for an HP master, yes I think they are essential. ROFL!

Confused yet?

ROFL!

Yeah, I think for a collector, the tie sets are a definite must have.  But, if you don't have one, I don't think it affects your status of "master set;" it's just a nice addition to the original set.

Maybe they can be part of a new set: the SDCC master set!  ROFL!

What would we say if it's POA or GOF instead of SS? Which binder, which set? The Update Set? Or the first one? Or not one of these?

A Master Set can only be what have been sold in a set IMO and mostly we have a first set and an update set. GOFU is now completed for example. The same with SS and without the ties. That's my defintion of Master Set. But of course it's a good question ...

And i don't know which binder i'll choose for the ties. But i guess, i'll take the SDCC binder.  Roll Eyes

Ah right I see, of course because the ties changed between COS and POA didn't they. Do you think they will one day do the other version?

It also says Sorcerer's Stone on the back.  That's why Roz put the Tie set under the SS set in the Price Guide.

I stay with my definition of a Master Set, but i changed my opinion where to put the cards. So the Tie Set, well, finally i chose the SS binder now. And i put these cards into the SS section of my homepage, which is updated now. Smiley Seemed to be the only way, i don't want to have an extra section.
