OK guys well we've been amazingly quiet on this topic this year... unlike the national (and international?) press.

After the whole Jade Goodie racism thing broke out I watched an episode and realised that it wasn't racist, it was all 100% down to Jade being a bully and lacking any sort of intellect... it's a shame but true.

Did anyone watch the whole thing? Or some of it? What did you think?

The whole BB concept is losing popularity... consider this fact that I stole from satirical magazine 'private eye'. After the racism incident a whopping 3.6 million viewers tuned into Big Brother to see what the fuss was about (the whole whopping thing was sarcasm.... 3.6m is tiny even by UK standards). This compares to a program that BBC2 were running at the same time called 'grow your own veg' which attracted an amusing 3.8m viewers Tongue

(...and when I found this out I thought "what did I bother with big brother for that night? I'd have much prefered the veg growing program).

Anyway, despite what she went through, the winner (Shilpa?) has had her visa extended (I'm not sure she'd have had it without all this fuss) and she's been welcomed into Britain with open arms ROFL! - every story has a silver lining after all Tongue

I thought in the last one the bullying got totally out of hand and so didn't bother with this one.  The way Michael Barrymore and Pete Burns laid into Jodie Marsh was a disgrace - not that I am a Jodie fan but it was uncomfortable to watch.  However as Jodie has a certain reputation the powers that be found this acceptable.

I saw some bits (mainly on the news) and those bits could easily have been seen as racist BUT (yes big but) the program was heavily edited.  Cleo Roccos said that Jade and Shilpa agreed many of the 'arguments' in advance to make better TV and were very friendly.  I have heard the one from Steps is suing BB over the editing and I hope she wins.  Jade was naive, loud and obnoxious but was she racist?  I don't believe so.

It was utter madness that Parliament debated this with all the other genuine problems in the world at the moment.  This just gave a few desperados the spring board they needed to rant on TV, it's a pity as much effort isn't put into fighting genuine racism that blights peoples real lives.

Oh and did you see Shilpa and her parents are being taken to court over their factory in India?  They are being prosecuted for paying workers half the minimum wage and practically all the workers are women.

As you can see I had many thoughts about this but didn't post cos I wasn't sure if anyone else saw it  Grin

I saw bits of it from time to time and was revolted by the whole thing, i hate reality TV its something about people wanting to be in these ridiculous situations that only end wrongly,

I dont know what the believe over the whole rascism row, but everyone involved seems to be getting enough press attention so we'll remember them in more then 2 minutes, and to be fair they should of known what they'd be getting themselves into with the egos in that house im suprised it didnt go further

I feel so embarrassed for English TV at the moment surely theres more interesting things they could put on television?!

I watched the series and the whole thing was blown out of all proportion. Jade would have still had a row even if Shilpa wasn't indian. But they way she has been treated because of it is far worse than anything she was supposed to have done. She's supposed to have had death threats and thats so much better. The stupid thing is in the house they had made up and where friends. While I think Shilpa is ok I am fed up by the way people are over compensating. Did anyone see Fiona on GMTV my good how much bowing and scraping did she do. I think the press have just made something out of nothing to keep themselves busy and people have been hurt in the long run. There was never this fuss made when Shabaz was picked on so bad in the normal BB and he was an Asian man.
