Ok, OK, the title sucked, but if you can think of a better one, let me know and I'll change it!

This is the result of an idea that we came up with in this thread.
http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,5093.0.html

Basically, people will be sending some sweet goodies native to their country to someone else around the world. Expanding our horizons through sugar - what better way? Grin Of course, this is not limited to sweets/candy/lollies - if you have anything else you'd like to include, feel free to.

Post your username and country and PM me your address details so I can organise who's sending to whom (will be good practice for Secret Santa this year Wink). I've just had a thought (delicate stage here Tongue) - it will mostly be US/UK/Aus trades, if anyone would like to send to 2 countries, then I can try and organise that they receive from 2 countries - how does that sound? Let me know if you'd like to send to 2 countries, otherwise I'll assume one by default.

Names of current sugar traffickers:

blackcat20 (Australia)
ferdinand_the_yak (Australia)
mcgonagall (Australia)
Trey (Australia)
Galea (US)
HPfamily (US)
Kelly (US)
Wendi (US)
ztaylork (US)
5594mike (UK)
Angels (UK)
Martyn (UK) x2
Morningangel-Iola (UK)
pinksamstar (UK)
Rich With Cards (UK)
Roz (UK)
Sharon (UK)

Who will be the lucky soul to get my package which among other things, will include a MOON PIE?? Grin Totally a southern thing.  Best served with an RC cola, and DELICIOUS after a few seconds in the microwave.

I've been asked how much we should spend on this. Now this is difficult as I don't want to set limits or say how much you should spend. Obviously, it won't be very nice to send one chocolate bar and receive several items in return (and vice versa). I'll leave it up to the individual traffickers (someone think of a better name!) to decide.

Take postage into consideration, for example, when I sent some chocolate biscuits to the US, postage cost as much as the chocolate itself.

Well, I know I can get at least 5 or 6 things for about $5.  How does that amount sound?  Also, does this have to be a secret santa type thing?  I want to make sure I don't send the person something that is already available in thier country.

Yeah count me in, unless it's going to all step into action whilst I'm away Sad

(Jo I need to talk to you - remind me!)

Yeah I think on this one we should set a budget. I had to send £20 of sweets to Canada... that's way too much although British sweets are so diverse that it wasn't that hard, but it cost a fortune in postage. I vote for £5 or so inc p&p? I daresay it will cost as much to post the stuff as the stuff costs itself (so I was working to Kelly's specs but doubling it for postage) Smiley

...anyway, like Jo said, it's a guide value, really if you go to the shops and think "ooh, they must try that, and that, ooh and that", then don't let it stop you being generous, but equally don't think "oh I don't want to participate in that, it's too much money", or get to the shops and think "oh no, I have no idea what to send".

Mike's idea is a good one, add in "chips" or crisps if you like too. Maybe some weird popcorn. Or if you like, some seeds or nuts... whatever you enjoy and think the recipient would enjoy.

Anyway, I'm a control freak... must ... step...  back ROFL!

You guys don't have Barbeque pototo chips, do you?  How about Cadbury chocolate cream eggs?  Easter is coming up!!
I think I'll list a bunch of stuff.  Tell me if you have these in England and Australia.
Oreos
Butterfingers
Barbeque potato chips
Cadbury cream eggs
Moon pies
Kit-kats
Fireballs (I hate them, but Phil has an entire box of them in the kitchen.  I can always send one)
Pop Rocks (sort of an oldie, but goodie)
Sour patch kids (a favorite of mine!!)
Oooh, there are so many more that I can't think of right now!
I'm headed off to Wal-Mart later, I'll look around.

Britain:

You guys don't have Barbeque pototo chips, do you?

Yes for Britain.

Quote
How about Cadbury chocolate cream eggs?  Easter is coming up!!

Yes, these are British Smiley

Quote
Oreos

Yes, but limited availability.

Quote
Butterfingers

Nope... what are they? Smiley

Quote
Moon pies

I'm kinda scared to ask what these are Tongue

Quote
Kit-kats

Yes, but Kitkats do taste different the world over... or is the tea I use to wash them down with ROFL!?

Quote
Fireballs (I hate them, but Phil has an entire box of them in the kitchen.  I can always send one)

I'm not sure... some times things are just named differently the world over, can you explain? We have hot fireball gobstoppers with gum in the middle.

Quote
Pop Rocks (sort of an oldie, but goodie)

A classic (if they are what we call 'popping candy'? - you pop them in your mouth and you're making a crackling sound?).

Quote
Sour patch kids (a favorite of mine!!)

Not under this name, what are they? Smiley

Awesome Cheesy

OK, I should probably start another list, I'm going to need some other Brit help here Smiley

Hard Boiled Sweets

Sherbert Lemons (I have to... they're referred to in HP)
Mint Humbugs (once again - they're referred to in HP)
Rubarb and Custard (an oldie)
Chocolate Limes
Barley Sugars (personally not a fan)
Cola Cubes
Pineapple chunks

Sherbert:

Sherbert Dib Dab
Sherbert Fountain
Double Dip
Flying Saucers (might be an acquired taste - sherbert wrapped in rice paper, this was the only thing our Canadian friend didn't like... their loss Tongue)... real olde favourite.

Chewey Bars/chews/chewy lollies

Refreshers (classic & sherbert )
Refreshers (strawbery & Sherbert)
Fruit Salad
BlackJacks
Drumstick

Misc:
Liquorice Allsorts
Fruit Allsorts
Love Hearts
Gobstoppers
Shrimp (not seafood... fine for Jewish friends Smiley)
Milk Bottles

OK that's a selection of the kiddy stuff available Smiley (high sugar)

We could also do the posher choc?

Mmmmm

ROFL! ROFL! ROFL!
There's a fistful of other kiddie-type sweets similar to the Refreshers Bars but I can't for the life of me recall what they're called ... oh I remember ... one of them is Iron Bru ... they have sour lemony kay-li (sp?) inside them - wicked!
Thank goodness there are still the little corner shops around that sell these tooth-rotting goodies!  Roll Eyes Grin

We have choccie-filled cream eggs ... soft caramel-filled cream eggs ... Milky Bar (white choc) cream eggs ... Smarties cream eggs ... Chocolate Orange cream eggs (YUMMMMM) as well as the ordinary sickly variety Jackie ... so we can't tempt you with those hmmm? Roll Eyes Wink Grin

No. That's a good point. Perhaps there should be hideous terms and conditions attached to this like we all sign up to a morning 2-3 mile jog? Smiley
