Goodness me Chris. It's good to hear you are alive fine and well... times are a changin - I blame global warming* Eathquakes in Britain!?? Did you lose any china or did anything fall over? *Just in case it wasn't obvious... this was sarcasm because everything is blamed on climate change these days. Changes in climate can in no way affect plate techtonics... well... not single degree changes in climate

We appear to have no damage at all. It is a very strange felling when your whole house is moving it is something you just don't expect. Once you know everyone is ok it is quite a interesting experience certainly gets your heart rate up so I don't need any exercise today by the way did anyone else feel it. I know we have some members in north kent

Wow. I've just seen this on the news. A few chimneys seem rustled and people are worried about gas leaks, but we still get off very lightly compared to most countries Sorry Chris, hope your life doesn't get too chaotic. Maybe it's a good idea to stay in today unless you really need to shop!

No No all is actually quite normal here there was only 1 casualty and it was minor it appears all damage was in just 5 streets in folkestone (which is about 7 miles from where i am) Dover is probably stong due to all the rebuilding after the war

I'm glad everyone's okay and the worse that happened was some tea cups were rattled. When I saw earthquake and Kent, I was afraid it was a California style earthquake. Fortunately, I don't live in eathquake country in the US. I'm in huricane alley though. Summer can be fun waiting for the huricanes to come and worrying it's going to head in our area. So far we haven't had one in about 20+ years. We're long past due for one.

Glad to hear all is well Chris! Earthquakes and bad weather no matter what kind are never welcome! We feel the earth shake every year here in the mountains of New Hampshire but thankfully we too are spared the kind of damage seen in California. The underground activity has been attributed as one of the factors that led to the demise of our State symbol and icon - the rock formation known as The Old Man of the Mountains which came crashing down in 2003!

I think we were all very lucky it was only a moderate earthquake and there was just on minor casualty.\Just not what you expect when you live in kent Not exactly an earthquake black spot
4.3 is reasonably high for us here in the uk so it is more of an interesting event.

Glad to hear that you are OK Chris. The middle of England is a very unusual spot indeed for earthquakes!
We are boring down under, being in the middle of a tectonic plate makes us essentially earthquake free.. thank goodness!

Ooops, my bad. Better brush up on my geography! ANYWHERE in the UK is odd for an earthquake Yup. I haven't experienced one. I expect the severity at Chris' place just meant he didn't need to stir any sugar into his tea (if he takes it - yeuck). Kent contains Dover - definitely on the Coast you can't miss it - the whiteness hurts your eyes

I didn't miss the tornado in Derby though (I think the yound jedi might have been inside at school when it hit us) - I was actually at work when it happened - a bit scary seeing the wind and rain swirling around you, especailly when you work on the 4th floor of an office block! Thankfully no serious damage was done, though a few poor souls who'd ventured out at lunchtime to get a bite to eat came back looking like drowned rats ... boy did they get wet!! I believe the young jedi was probably alseep when we had the minor earthquake - it was more a tremor, and yes, I can honestly say the Earth moved for me .. more a shift sideways and back again ...
