I'm a llama! Why am I a llama?

I plugged my ipod mini into my computer this morning, and next thing I know itunes had removed everything off it, including all my on-the-go lists, and reloaded it with all the songs in my itunes library, and a whole lot of other playlists including "90s music", "music videos", "my top rated" etc.

The music I had on my ipod was a mix of what is in my itunes at work and at home, and i was quite pleased with my playlist. Also, when I go to my ipod through itunes, all the songs are in pale grey and I cannot click ot play any of them....

Anyone know what on earth is going on???  Huh

gottcha.

Here is what to do. When you plug in your iPod, I am 99% certain you had iTunes set to automatically update your songs. This is very simple to fix. When you plug in your iPod and the screen comes up in iTunes (the one that tells you the version and how much is used and all) look down towards the bottom and there should be 3 or 4 boxes you can check/uncheck. You either need to uncheck the one that says automatically update or there might be one that says manually manage my ipod (or something along those lines)

...let me know if that helped...that is what the problem sounds like to me

Yep, Bryan is right, the default for iTunes is to automatically sync what's on your iPod with the iTunes library installed on your computer.

The reason you can't play the songs on your iPod via iTunes is probably because the library is not in sync with the iPod.

How long has it been since you've been putting music from your work computer? Maybe it's because of that? Or maybe you've installed a newer version of iTunes recently?

Anytime...Apple related computer questions are my specialty  Grin

I imagine maybe your computer updated to a newer version of iTunes. The software is usually updated every 3 months...the bad thing is that it doesn't carry over your personal settings which is a pain in the butt because most people will forget to reset the settings to their likeing

Im almost completely useless with Apples...my department runs on them, but I use a PC laptop. I can function on them though.

Pretty annoyed that Ive lost all my music; ipods are great but it takes so long to get music you like onto it and organised into playlists.
