I just wondered if anyone know whether there will be a trading card set for pirates of the Caribbean 3 or not.

Unfortunately, no.  It's too bad, since any set would have been wildly popular.

It really is a shame that there have not been sets done for the Pirates films.  The autos for a Pirates set would be outstanding...as would the costumes and props.  They are missing the boat there. I wonder if any card companies have faced resistance from the studio or the stars on such a set and that is the underlying reason we have not seen any sets for Pirates.   Undecided Really a shame, either way.

I did these cards today to loosen up for some commission work.  I TOTALLY agree with the POTC needs a cards set.

Back when Pirates 1 was in theaters, I asked Alan with Inkworks if he'd given the property any consideration.

Apparently, Inkworks was approached to do a set.  However, the studio would not guarantee any of the main 3 would sign and were not able to produce screen-worn costumes for Pieceworks cards.  These two items were apparently deal breakers, since with modern sets you need main signers and Inkworks does not do "material used to create".

I've also heard that Disney is very proud of the license, and without the assistance of the studio to get autos and costumes it's probably cost prohibitive to produce a set with just base cards and some low level chase.

Plus, Upper Deck doesn't seem interested (again) in regular trading cards under their Disney license, just putting their efforts into some gaming releases.

Even without being blown away by RAM's examples, it's obvious that Pirates would be virtually perfect for sketch cards.

Oh well, I still have my Depp auto from CATCF.  Grin
