Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released July 21.  The book will soon be sent to various printers and there will be leaks and rumors.  We have some guidelines we'd like all members here to follow, up to and following the book's release.

1) When posting about the book, please do not put any plot or rumor details in the title of a thread.  For instance, it is not okay to write "Snape is dead!" in the title, but it would be acceptable to write just "Snape -- Spoilers."  Any posts that violate this policy will be deleted and the person posting will be subjected to cruel and unusual punishment (such as being forced to watch 12 continuous hours of Dancing with the Stars). Evil

2) Any thread you start that has spoilers or rumors must have the word SPOILERS in the title.

3) All threads and posts about DH must be kept in the Book 7 discussion forum.  Please do not post anywhere else in the forum, and that includes not posting in The Leaky Cauldron board.  It will be easier for members to avoid DH discussion if the discussion is held only in one area of the Shack.

4) We understand that with the OOTP card set, the OOTP movie, and San Diego Comic-Con all occurring in the same month, a lot of members will want to visit the Shack for news.  Please be advised that by doing so, you may be inadvertently exposed to some Deathly Hallows info.

5) It will be almost impossible to avoid the hype, but if you truly want to avoid exposure to any plot info, the best advice we can give is to avoid Harry Potter sites (including this one).  Of course, you may also need to avoid the entire Internet, your local and national news broadcasts, newspapers, Owl Post, and just about any form of communication to which you have access. Wink

6) If you still wish to read non-DH posts on the Shack, you can help minimize your exposure to DH info by collapsing the section that has the titles of recent posts located on the bottom of the forum's homepage.  Scroll down to The YakShack Forum - Info Center and click on the minus/subtraction sign on the right hand side of the box.  You'll still be able to see the title of the most recent post on the Book 7 discussion forum, but with all of the other info on the page, you can quickly scroll past it to reach the card discussion threads.

7) You may also want to avoid using the "Show unread posts since last visit" feature at the top of each page.

We hope that the spoiler policy and other suggestions will help everyone enjoy all things Harry Potter well into the summer (or winter, depending on the hemisphere in which you reside)!  If you have any questions or want further clarification, please post here or feel free to PM Roz, Jo, or Cindy.  Thank you!

Thanks Cindy, great stuuff. I'm going to try and add a temporary daughter board to this one for speculation and spoilers.

However, my advice is to keep away from either of the deathly hallows forums until you have read the final book (once it comes out anyway, and it leaves the speculation phase and joins the discussion phase).

There should be no comments/mentions/suggestions/speculation regarding the final book anywhere outside these two forums. That way the forum remains safe to come along to and discuss OOTP cards etc. until you have finished the final book. Some clever people can read a JK book in 6 hours. I'm not one of those people. If I read things too fast I find that I don't enjoy them as much, so I'll be taking my time, sitting down with a cup of tea, preferably in a rocking chair with a rug over my legs ROFL! and enjoying the book slowly.

With the release nearly upon us, I just wanted to remind everyone about our spoiler policy listed in the first post of this thread. Smiley

When people are finished reading the book, all threads and posts (following spoiler policy) that contain actual plot information from the book should be made only in the "child board" here:

http://www.theyakshack.co.uk/forum/index.php/board,35.0.html

A child board is a secondary board.  We're using it as an extra buffer between those who are ready to read about and discuss plot info, and those who aren't.

If you have any questions about the policy, posting, or the different boards, please send me a PM. Smiley
