The publicity-shy author, who last toured in the U.S. in 1999, will be here in October for the J.K. Rowling Open Book Tour. The stopover will include four events: two in New York, one in New Orleans and another in Los Angeles. Three of the events will be expressly for students while the final one, slated for Carnegie Hall in New York, will be open to 1,000 fans who win tickets through a sweepstakes sponsored by Scholastic.
In September, the publisher will select the schools that will get to send some of their students to the events. Rowling is scheduled to be at the Kodak Theater in L.A. on October 15; at the auditorium of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans on October 18; and at Carnegie Hall on October 19. The Scholastic sweepstakes event will follow Rowling's student talk that evening, at 7 p.m.
