I don't understand why you didn't try online first...  I don't even live in the UK & I found the official site in about 30 seconds.

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/modalpages/2625.aspx

There's a "tickets" page...

You're unlikely to receive the tickets by monday.  I think there's a postal strike tomorrow.
You want to get a one travelcard.

Yeah - google is your friend!

You'd best decide where you're likely to go and how many zones you'll need.

But Potter be careful if you are crossing another zone.  For instance if you are going from a zone 1 station to another zone 1 station but have to cross zones 2, 3 and 4 you will need a travel card to cover all of these zones.  Also be warned the trains are hellish at the moment - what with planned works, strike action, the heat and the rain (which is knocking out the signals) it is not a pleasant experience.  Take something to drink and try to pick the end of the train farthest away from the exits - you have a bit of a walk but they are much less cramped.  Have fun in London  Grin

Thanks for the advice Sharon  Grin I am looking forward to going to London. I might actully buy by self a day ticket to cover all zones just in case, with a bottle of water, just hope I don't have much problems on the tube, or I might have to result to the buses. I don't like large crowds for long period of time.

I think an all zones would be the best although depending where you are coming from you probably won't need zones 5 or 6 (you can get a 1-4).  Oh and unless you want to take out a second mortgage make sure you buy it after 9.30 am  Wink  If you are not keen on crowds try and avoid rush hour and certainly don't get on the tube after about 4.30pm.  The travel card will be fine on the buses as well and you will probably be able to catch a bendy bus - the sheer stupidity of these things has to be seen to be believed  ROFL!

I will be coming into Kings Cross for about 11am and then leaving kings cross about 6.30pm, I am going to be exhausted. Thats pretty good then if I want to use the pass on the bus as well as the tubes, might do a mixture of the two especially coming back into kings cross, but I won't have a clue on what stop to get off at and im sure my sister won't do either  ROFL!

Been too London today and what aday me and my sister had, firstly got to the train station to find out there were severe delays to london kings cross station, was told by the station staff its just a case of waiting for the next avaiable train and getting on it, then to find out there were not running direct to london, so what we had to do was change at peterbrough to go to stevenge change at stevenge to go to london, so got there 1 hr 20 mins late at 12.30 instead of 11.10, then thought good atleast were here and can get some shopping done, then we walked to the tube station at kings cross to find out they were evacuating the underground that took 30mins, then it turned out too be a hoax.

we had a good time at convent garden and oxford street.

Then we started to make our way back to kings cross to get the train back home, then we found out that the underground alarms were going off, dont know what was happening at oxford circus tube station, so finally got down there about 5.15pm,

Sharon you were right about it being really busy people were so rude and knocking you out of the way, we had to wait for 3 tubes to go to kings cross tube station because we couldn't even get on it, then we got shuffed about on the tube wish I had a bottle of water because I have never sweated so much in my life.

So in a nut shell it was a intresting day out.

Oh dear! Well, to be honest I think I'd have stayed at home if I were you today. Half the country is underwater, and this is bad news for train lines in ditches. There have been several landslides onto tracks etc.

It's easy to forget what's going on just because our feet are dry Wink

Better luck next time.

I was glad when we finally got going around london, planning on going back later this year from xmas shopping.

According to the train company GNER it was due to over head signal problems.  But i do feel really sorry for the poor homes under water, glad I don't live near a river.

One of your main problems was you hit the underground (going home) at rush hour, not the best of times.  When you come down for Xmas shopping try to arrange your homeward journey for later in the evening, this will also give you a chance to visit some of the arcades and look at the lights.  If you decide you are going to stay and want somewhere good to eat let me know, I can reccomend a very good Italian just of Bond Street that wont cost a arm & a leg LOL  Unfortunatly London is hectic and people do lack manners but there are some great places to visit & Covent Garden is one LOL did you visit the indoor market? great pub just round the corner caled the Maple Leaf  Grin
