I am starting to wonder if they do only use Dover  Undecided  I have searched for soldiers, hunters, boy scouts, pilots, shooting, hunting, archers and a few others ...I give up  Roll Eyes

Marcuss I did find some of the artwork they used for the ad that you asked me about. You know the witch & kids on the flying carpet. If you search for dover sled....you'll see it Wink Needs editing though.

I found more clipart collections. If we all look through them, maybe we find something.

Just having a quick look on those sites they do not have the quality or the range of the Dover Collection. I tried the keyword whip (under black & white and illustrations) and it came up with 9 results. However I typed the same phrase into the dover collection and I get 101 results.

Perhaps the images we need arent always in the "Dover Collection" (Which is actually just a collection made up by clipart.com) Try expanding your search to the WHOLE of clipart.com (but still keep black&white filter)

Hope this helps

I already expand the search on all collections, not just dover. I would say that the pics are combined from two or more pictures.
The link with the larger extreme incantations is great, thanks.

Not finished any new ones yet, I had a virus on my computer and lost all my WORK & referance images  Embarrassed

However I have managed to save 1 piece (Quiditch world cup poster) that I had on a USB stick.

I have started a OWL exam paper now and after a few new font finds I am going to start my daily prophet again.

I am making sure that I backup all my work/referance to CDs now!!!

Sorry to hear that. But you can learn from those disasters. Do always back-ups on CD or USB-Stick.

Yeah, I have managed to download most of my pictures again - incuding several great images. I just lost 2 Educational Decrees that I made and a few fonts.

Hi Guys,
I love the replicas you do, i think theyre brilliant. Do you ever have to draw them freehand somehow, or guess for things you cant find  Undecided  Huh

I find my fonts on the usefull tool whatthefont (http://www.myfonts.com/whatthefont) where you can upload font samples and it identifies the fonts.

Clipart can be found on clipart.com's "Dover Collection" or sometimes in indiviudal sites. For example the woman with the spider for hair is actually an illustration from a hairdressing magazine in 1868 called Next Hideous "Sensation Chignon" http://tinyurl.com/spiderhair

Sometimes when you cant find an image then you have to do it yourself. The best way is to redraw it and then scan it in.

Usually for fine details (like daily prophet text) you have to make up the articles because the WB props just have random text in. One idea I recently thought of was to do some searches on news sites for similar articles and just edit them to make them seem more wizardy, just search with http://uk.news.search.yahoo.com/

Hope this helps  Grin

Yes, thank-you,  Wink
It just fascinates me how you all manage to do it, i`d never in a million years attempt to even try. All the hours of work you put in it must be very difficult but from what i`ve seen of the outcome its very well worth it and i can see why you make more.  Grin

Very bad things happened, the book binder refused my order. First he doesn't respond to my mails, than he said from week to week the book will be ready and then nothing  Angry
Fortunately I got my money back. So I have to find a new book binder. But the project is still actual and in my mind. As soon as I have something to show you will all see. I promise Cheesy Please be patient.

I am looking for these signs:
http://www.hooverae.com/upload/files/031008/9784565.gif
Are they a font or something or maybe custom made from the prop master, any idea?

Hi Marcuss

Are you doing OWLS? I had to draw mine by hand. Some can be made up using a series of letters but is just easier to draw them Smiley

The symbols are also used on the Quidditch World Cup Program and on the surface of the Alethiometer (from Northern Lights). I wonder if they are found items or both movies had the same prop master.
