At long last!.....I've managed to get my hands on a sealed POA hobby box! Thankyou Thankyou.. Collectorzone had one for auction on ebay that ended on sunday night but unfortunately i was outbid. I was really gutted. But like a bolt out of the blue i got a second chance offer on monday from Gary at Collectorzone which i snapped up. And the box is coming tomorrow!!!. Even though i paid a fair amount of money for the box, if i don't get anything major from it i won't mind at all. That's a chance i was willing to take when i bought the box. I'm just so happy to finally grabbed one of these. I'm going to really take my time opening the packets one by one...and maybe....just maybe....if i wish hard enough, i might be lucky

Ooh good luck! What fun. I have been stashing away a box from each set. I dont know why. Perhaps i have some romantic notion that we london yaks could all get together at the imax To watch the final film and open them...i dont know but it seemed a good idea at the time.

Well...i opened my sealed box. I was really really looking forward to opening this one as this is only the second POA sealed box i've ever had. I bought my other one a few months ago. To say i was gutted with my pulls is an understatement. I felt like crying I pulled a George Weasley Quidditch Robe costume card and a Dumbledore Auto card. Now what's wrong with those i hear you cry!. How can you complain?. Normally i would be very happy with them if it wasn't for the fact that the two cards that i had from my only other POA box was.........a George Weasley Quidditch Robe costume card and a Dumbledore Auto card!! I couldn't believe it!.Two boxes months apart and from different sellers yet i pull the same cards from each one!. What were the odds of that happening?. A million to one?. Even with my bad luck that shocked me. If i had bought lots of POA boxes in the past and had quite a few of the cards i might of expected it. I wouldn't of even minded getting the two worst cards in the set as long as they had been different to the ones i already had. This particular experience has really put me off buying POA sealed boxes as they are so expensive to buy because of their rarity. To have paid the amount of money that i did and to get the cards that i did really left me reeling! I'm really scared now to attempt to buy another in case i pay a lot of money again and the same sort of thing happens

It stinks to pull the exact same cards from two different boxes, but as Razzer said, at least it wasn't a dud box. Both POA and POAU were plagued with that problem. IMHO, unless you have some extra money lying around to spend on these boxes without it impacting your other card purchases, the POA and POAU boxes really aren't worth the risk. Hopefully, you can put the two cards on eBay and come close to recouping what you spent on the box.

sorry to make you feel worse. My pleasure Razzer.Glad i saved you from getting another George Weasley Robe. Thanks for making me feel a whole lot better...LOL I'm beginning to hate the card myself now. Perhaps we should start a new club! I didn't know that dud boxes were a big problem with POA.I thought that was only a major problem with the update set. At least with the update there is a tiny bit of comfort in the fact that the boxes can be picked up quite cheaply. I will probably put them on ebay at some point in the future. At least that way i will get some money back. Hey....perhaps Razzer will buy the George Weasley Quidditch Robe card.

it wouldn't be too bad if it was a all yellow swatch or even a yellow/red variant. but assuming it is not, start it at 99p on and i bet postage costs more than you get for the card!! sorry but i already have two spares to get rid of at some point. my 6 year old son has them at the moment stashed away, so i expect the corners are a bit dinged by now. the dumbledore auto should be half decent, i have seen it in with some sellers BIN of £85 to £100!

You're probably right about the George Weasley card Razzer. I'm not holding out for much hope. Not even for the Dumbledore Auto card. I sold the two cards that i had from the first box on ebay a couple of months ago. The George Weasley Quidditch Robe had a strip of yellow going across the top and that only sold for £9. My new card will probably be lower than that as it is an all red swatch. As for the Dumbledore Auto card. All i can say is well done if sellers manage to get someone to buy it £85-£100. They deserve a pat on the back as my one from my first box managed to reach the dizzying heights of just £15!!!. when i sold it. I can't even see me recouping even a quarter of what i paid for the box, which is basically the amount that i recouped from my first box. I think this has definitely put me off buying the POA boxes. Unless i win the lottery of course . Then i can buy as many as i like and i wouldn't even have to worry if every one of them was a dud box!

Were your auctions listed only for the UK? I don't remember seeing those cards on eBay U.S., and I enter a lot of auctions in the price guide. Both cards should have sold for much more than they did.

£9 is that all. i thought the yellow variants were going for more than that. i'm sure i've seen them around for £90 ish. i must of missed that auction cos i would have definately had that one for twice that, maybe 3 times. and to only get £15 for dumbledore is a shame aswell. big time shame. do you think you will be buying another box then?

Yes they were listed only for the UK kbmum. I also can't accept paypal as payment as i don't have a paypal account. I know that this does really limit me but even allowing for both these things the prices that i got were still very low. Not only that but cards that i have had before that have different swatches or are rarer have always sold for what they are worth so maybe i was just unlucky on these occasions. 9 is that all. i thought the yellow variants were going for more than that. i'm sure i've seen them around for £90 ish. i must of missed that auction cos i would have definately had that one for twice that, maybe 3 times. They probably are going for that amount. But that's just the type of luck i have! . Violins out everyone do you think you will be buying another box then? Only if you go halves with me Razzer!

Stoney--I am sorry about your pulls, especially since you pulled them once before.
I have only ever opened one box of the original POA and I pulled the George Weasley Costume Card--that was it...only one insert. It was pretty disappointing.
As much as I would love to get another box of these one day, I think I would rather save that amount of money and put it towards one of the rare prop cards in the set, since they are so expensive.

Thanks Bitsy. Sorry to hear about your box too. Everyone must be really fed up with the George Weasley costume card. It seems that they were put in nearly every box! At least i've managed to pull an autograph card along with the costume card (even if it's the same one!). To pull just the George Weasley card on it's own has got to be really disappointing, especiallly when you think of what you're paying for these boxes. It wouldn't be so bad if wasn't costing an arm and a leg to buy the boxes. I paid £90 for my first box and £100 for my latest one.

Sorry to hear your bad luck stoney! I know what you mean about the PoA box thing... it's always worth a gamble! I've only done that once though! Regarding your low price for you cards, I know that a lot of people won't buy unless they can pay via Paypal (myself included). The feeling of security in case something goes wrong is probably why. If you sell a bit, it might be worth your while considering getting an account. Just my advice though

If you sell a bit, it might be worth your while considering getting an account. Just my advice though That's the thing isn't it. It's the gamble that you take. The thrill of not knowing what you are going to pull. The hope that you are going to find something magical. Sometimes it happens....more often than not it doesn't. That's the pull of the POA box. That you might pull one of the fantastic elusive prop cards from this set (well it is for me anyway). But i think that the price is steadily increasing too much on the POA box for me to consider taking another chance only to be disappointed (well for the time being! ). I do think that you have a good point about the paypal. I know that a few people are a bit wary of sending cheques and postal orders through the post in case they get lost. I also think though that i was just unlucky in this instance with the prices that i got for the two cards as normally any rare card or any card with a different variation to the normal swatch that i have sold has gone for a high price or at least for what they are worth. I am seriously considering opening a paypal account though as i would like to start buying sealed boxes and cases from U.S sellers. So hopefully i will get that done in the next few weeks. I'm sure that using paypal will be as simple and easy to use as people keep telling me (fingers crossed) .

Not only that, but you'll be able to sell your items in the U.S., Australia, and other countries. The more people who can bid on your items, the better the chance that the cards will sell for more money. Had the George card been available on eBay U.S., you would have gotten more for it, because I would have bid on it.
