Inkworks is moving to the Dark Side.  Per its website, it will begin using sticker autos with the June release of Supernatural: Connections. Undecided  The exact statement is:

Due to autograph card security issues, Inkworks will be using signed holographic security labels on autograph cards for all products beginning with the Supernatural: Connections trading card collection that releases in June 2008.  This change was made to protect the integrity of Inkworks autograph cards.

I wonder how long it'll be before Artbox and Rittenhouse do the same thing?

What do you suppose they mean by "autograph security card issues?" Bit concerning that they believe there is a problem...or is it just easier with stickers?  Undecided Huh

You know, I wouldn't feel so bad about this is they wouldn't tell me it's all about security.

It's economics and logistics.  You can overnight sheets of stickers so the actor can sign the day after they agree.  With cards, you have to design it, get it approved, and print it before they can be signed which can take many weeks I'm told.  In that amount of time most actors have moved on to the next project.

I'd rather have on-card autos, but the stickers won't keep me from getting the autographs I really want.

Has anyone heard or experienced problems w/ sticker autos?  Some people have told me that the sticker autos peel at edge/edges.  I've personally not had a problem but, at the same time, have very few sticker auto cards.

The first images for the new autograph cards are now up

Personally I'm not a fan of stickers, but if that's the way that Inkworks are going to continue then I will still be getting the cards for the sets I collect.

I actually think they are quite nice! I'm disappointed that the dual Mulder/Scully autograph is a dealer incentive though - but them's the breaks. I'll definitely get a case of this!

turn off the caps lock.

the sticker is becoming the industry standard and I imagine someday RA and Artbox will end up using it as well.

Exactly.

I hope Steve @ Rittenhouse was telling the truth when he said he'd 'never' switch to stickers...

I hate them, period.  I think they're ugly and impersonal.  Not that the old style was personal, but these feel really, really cold and generic to me.  I'd personally rather have a price increase from Inkworks than this, but I realize that that isn't really realistic for a variety of reasons, with profit margins already being razor thin.  I think they're here to stay, but I cannot imagine myself paying more than $20.00 for any individual stickered-auto.
