Theres been something thats always puzzled me and just thought i`d ask you all on here for your opinions, it seems to me there are alot of fans of harry potter that are adults, any views on this anyone??   Huh  Roll Eyes
Theres nothing wrong with this as i am one myself but I have friends who dont like harry potter and who only think its children who like the films/cards etc, only recently a friend of mine just assumed my collection of cards was valued at pennies each because it was only for children, this shows to me how little people actually know, but i personally think there are more adults than people realise that like harry potter.

Would love to know other peoples views on this please?  Smiley

Well, a lot of the kids who started reading HP when it first came out are actually technically adults now too. I am 31 and so is my husband and we are both huge fans. I think it is the inner child in all of us who enjoy the concept of magic. I just know I am glad I am not alone or I would feel rarely silly.

Hi Sue Grin

Well I am definitely a fan and I am old enough to have a 19 year old son ...enough said on that one I think Wink
I know lots of adults who are fans of the books and films....mainly through my time selling on Ebay. You get to know the regular buyers and sellers. Granted some are only in it for the money but there are some who are genuine fans....and I have made some great friends along the way. I personally haven't felt the same way about a series of books since reading Tolkien(as a child and adult). The Lord of the Rings trilogy will always be my all time favourites but Harry Potter and The prisoner of Azkaban especially is right up there Cheesy
When we went to see the last film there were definitely more adults then kids in the cinema. Also as mentioned in the previous post...the young kids that grew up with  harry are teenagers now and the films and books have got progressively darker Cool

Meeting up is quite fun. There's a contingent of merry Yaks who sometimes meet for Breakfast at the San Diego Comic Con after they heard about our tea parties at events here in the UK - places like London Expo, Manchester GMex, Memorabilia at the NEC, and Collectormania at Milton Keynes tend to be the usual places, although this year we're even going up in the world and a handful of us will be at Stratford for Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost on Halloween for a special performance with Cast Q&A afterwards Cheesy

Am sure you'll be more than welcome to join/instigate any possible future gatherings of like-minded souls Smiley

Right then... we'd best get pencilling some more in.

Collectormania in late Sept is the next Showmasters event... but at this stage they have no guests of particular interest, but we'll watch this space Smiley We just missed London Film and Comic Con this weekend (I missed it entirely - didn't know until I got a call on my mobile asking why I wasn't there - I was 100 miles away in the New Forest Wink).

Hi Roz,
i`d definitly love to go, pencil me in. London might be a bit too far at short notice as i`d have to arrange accomodation, time off work etc, but yes i am really keen to meet up with you all  Grin .
What goes on in these places, is it a shopping place with some movie stars at booths or something. i know i sound really stupid  Undecided

Then you queue to  have your photo taken with your favourites...at a cost of course Wink I live near Milton Keynes and have been to Collectormania a couple of times. I never do the photos...not my thing....but like to have a look around and see what treasures I can find Wink

Calm down Sue I shouldn't have got you all excited Grin ROFL! Unfortunately I don't think Harry will be there....its usually the supporting actors and they haven't had many from Harry Potter there the last couple of times. All you need do is  check the collectormania website and it will let you know who will be there. unfortunately its not just for Harry Potter Sad You will find dealers selling cards, photos , autographs etc. The photos wit the actors were about £10-£15 I think!

The best one I went to had all the Hobbits there....that was great!

Hi Sue Wink

Heres the link for collectormania

http://www.collectormania.com/

.....more guests will be added but don't know if any will be HP. Matthew Lewis was at the manchester one back in March and Warwick Davis is at the Glasgow one in August.
PLenty of time for guests to be added to the MK one.

I am quite new on the YS so haven't met anyone yet but I am sure some of the others have Cool
