DAY 1 - The beginning.
I went to have a look at the set-up outside the centre this morning (9.00am). There was about 200 people queuing for the 3.00pm registration. The atmosphere was one of excitement and body odour. Most of these were all-nighters. Armed with a charged up i-pod, puzzle book and something to read (The Accidental Sorcerer by K.E.Mills), I will be wandering down to join the heaving masses about midday.

Perhaps you should also arm yourself with a nose plug.

I queued for 6 hours and was fairly near the front. This still put me gazillienth in the line for the Artbox goodies. Got in at 5.45pm. Artbox started selling at 7.00pm. If anyone knows why, please let me know.

Well the best laid plans for a day-to-day report went up in smoke. The internet cafe didn't open until 10.00am and by that time, I was heaving and shoving like a pro - sorry wasn't a word that was used much by anyone.
Got a few goodies, but on the whole, missed out on a lot of freebies. Warners was giving a huge HBP tote bag which I missed  Sad All the auctions at Artbox were won by one dealer. He said they were for his collection (no, I don't believe it either). I put in bids just so I could have my name on the board  Grin The closest I came was the set of six which spelt P.O.T.T.E.R. They went for $200 more than my bid. I was seconds away from winning when the walking cheque book hoved into view and got them for imo a very good $3000. I estimate he spent a good $8 - $10 thousand. Had a chat about the Moody redemption. Kay's frustration is as big as ours. They really are trying. Remember, they have money invested in this as well and a replacement card will cost them. Nice to see Bryan and Jennifer again. below are the best two pictures of note.

Me and Kay

A young lady who was gracious enough to make an old man happy (my thoughts are my own  Evil )

All in all, had a great time thanks to my family and their generosity.

they didn't entirely set up their booth/merch in time so it delayed selling the goody bags on preview night.

Well, my suspicions were correct and the dealer who won the auctions flogged the cards. The sacrilege of splitting the P.O.T.T.E.R cards to me, is "burn in hell" bad  Angry

I'd love to have a whole set of the cards, but, considering what there selling for, I doubt anyone would have been able to afford a whole set.  I remember when a whole set of Gilderoy Lockhart's books went for sale on  Ebay!.  The winning bid was over $100,000.00 dollars.  I imagine the complete set would have been fun to follow in an auction.
