Just wondering if there is anything than any of us can do to help get the newer HP sets, and any other sets too I guess, up on the price guide list.  I'm sure between everyone we have the scans to do it.  I imagine it's a lot of work, but It's definitely a great resource.

I'm guessing price submissions are a bigger problem than scans of each card...

Unless you have a history of auctions the price guide is much less accurate, starting months or years after the set there just are not as many sales to pull an average from.

But I too would love to see it happen.  I use the price guide on a fairly regular basis, but the older the data the less accurate it really is.

The submission of data is a problem, because it has to be done manually.  YakShack members have to take the time to enter auctions into the price guide, and there is no way that the guide will be accurate if only one or two people participate.  There are just too many sets and cards.  I speak from experience when I say that it was fairly easy to maintain when there were only a few sets, but there are now so many HP sets, it's a much more daunting project.  There was a time when another member and I spent HOURS each day entering auctions.  After a while, it just got to be too much.

Well I'd volunteer time to help get it going, and keep it going, as you've all been a huge help to me.  Because even the old data helps me out, like when we splurged on the Fluer sweater card, I may have gone much higher, or not as high as I knew was fair, if not for the guide.  Anyhow, I would definately be willing to do what I could, and Im sure there are others that would be as willing as I.  Thanks.

Thanks Alan,

You have highlighted that I need to get us going again on this! Various lovely people have sent me some images and I do need to pop some up.

If you would be happy to enter some data please do, I'd be delighted!

Many many thanks for the input,

Roz

I think it's true that the bloom is off the rose.  To me, the downturn began after J.K. Rowling released the last book in the series.  Perhaps we'll see an upturn when the last two movies are released.

And, yes, there are way too many sets.  But, that's what happens when a trading card company makes money from only one viable card license. Collectors got burned out.  I know I did.  I haven't purchased boxes (from any set, HP or otherwise) in well over a year and I don't have any cards from Heroes and Villains.  It's equal parts lackluster interest and getting ticked off spending $60 for a box and pulling one or two inserts I could have bought on eBay for less than $10 each.  Of course, that's true for just about any set.

I am one of the people still very interested in these sets! I only get about 4 boxes per release, and then maybe pick up a couple more later. It is possible to pull a Radcliffe auto by just buying one box (it has happened to be surprisingly), but it is not as easy as buying a case. I would love to start saving some money to get a case of the last release, but I think I will be saving to go to Universal instead.

Universal Studios in Florida. They built an entire Harry Potter World/park with a ride, replica of the castle, Hogwarts and I believe Diagon Alley, You can drink butterbeer too. My in-laws just got back from there and said it looks exactly like it does in the movies.
