Wow, the last time someone called me Cynthia was the minister at my wedding nine years ago!  Cheesy

Yeah, the games can be kind of long.  One of the playoff games earlier this week went just over five hours.  I was tired watching it at home; I can't imagine what is was like sitting in the stands.

I watched Game 4 live Sunday night which finished here at 6.25am Monday, followed by Game 5 Monday finishing at 4.01am Tuesday !

Worth every moment watching the demise of the Evil Empire. My Red Sox replica shirts are ready & waiting for tomorrow. I was intending to watch Game 1 at home, but there is a Sports Cafe in central London (imaginatively called The Sports Cafe !) which is showing the game, so i'm very tempted to go there. I called them earlier & asked what happens if the game goes beyond their normal closing time of 3am and they said "We stay open"

That will do for me  Grin

Cindy, Cynthia, KB -- really doesn't matter to me, as long as it isn't @*&! or &&^%$*@ or #?&%*@@!  Cheesy

When I was 11, my family moved to another town.  My first day at the new school, a girl came up to me and asked my name.  I told her, and she said, "You don't look like a Cynthia.  Cynthias are tall and have blonde hair and blue eyes. (I'm short, with brown hair and brown eyes.)  You look more like a Gladys!"

Not that there's anything wrong with the name Gladys, but...I never became friends with the girl, either!

Now that is dedication!  And you still managed to go to work?

The Yankees, Steinbrenner in particular, really hate being called the Evil Empire.  But it fits!  Besides, it's annoying to watch the same team go to the World Series nearly every year (says the woman who hopes that the New England Patriots go to their third Super Bowl in four years this coming February!).

I sort of managed work Monday & Tuesday (Shhhhhhhhhhhh)  Wink

Big Pats fan as well, so Sunday will involve Pats / Jets at 9pm Uk time, then after another close Pats victory, change channels for Game 2 and Curt Schilling.

My type of weekend.

Exactly!

Although, I'll be dealing with some tricky timing, trying to get the kids to bed between the end of the football game and the beginning of the baseball game, without missing too much of either!  It won't be easy, because even though they're young, they are getting caught up in all of the excitement.

Well it is wonderful to see baseball and football fans in England!  I have been a life long New York Yankees fan and I take my hat off to the Boston Red Soxs as I never thought they would win after being down 3 games to 0.  I do wish them well and I for one will be rooting for them to beat St. Louis!   Smiley

As far as football goes I grew up in Connecticut and now live in New Hampshire.  I was a Green Bay Packers fan growing up as a child especially when Bart Starr was their Quarterback.  My last name is Bart and I also played Quarterback through High School but not with the same results!   Wink  Anyway I vividly remember when Yankee Stadium was being remodeled - both the Yankees and New York Giants were displaced and had to play elsewhere for their home games.  This was back in the late 1960's.  The Giants were hosting the Washington Redskins at Yale University's football stadium in New Haven, Connecticut and it turned out that the Washington Redskins were staying at a hotel in my home town of Waterbury, Connecticut until the game was played that Sunday afternoon.  My Dad took me and my brother down to see if we could see some of the players.  We did see and meet most of the team and when the players found out that I was a Quaterback I was introduced to both Redskins Quarterbacks - Sonny Jergensen and Billy Kilmer.  They took the time to talk to me and gave me an autographed football with their signatures on it.  From then on I have been a devoted Redskins fan to this day.  I wore from that time on number 17 which was Billy Kilmer's number while I played both baseball and football.  We had our glory years as Super Bowl Champs for many years and I will always remember the bitter battles with the Dallas Cowboys.   Smiley

Wow that is a great story!  It's sad to think that now fans of athletes have to be so sensitive about what they sign because most auto hounds that mob them at the hotels when they are on the road turn around and sell the items on ebay for profit.  I would like to get auto's and keep them in my collection, but most players won't even sign anymore because of the money being made of there signature.

Wasn't Sonny the quarterback who threw a few passed behind his back.  I think I am right on that-?- it's a little before my day.

Savage Bart - That could be your pirate name!  I like it.

Hi Beckham:

Yea Sonny did all kinds of cool stuff with a football including passing behind his back!   Cool  It is a shame that sports has come down to what you described.  Thankfully that was not the case when I was a young boy and that interaction changed me into a loyal fan.

I can't see what I experienced happening today unfortunately.
