I am about to bid on one of MPC's items that ends in the next hour or so.  In the description, it says All Items MUST be sent insured.  However, it then gives the postage costs and lists both uninsured airmail and internationally signed for.  So would I be able to pay uninsured airmail, or do I have to get the signed for one.  Does anyone know?

I am not sure what you are trying to win. But if you purchase anything under £28 MPC should be able to get a "proof of posting" which gives insurance to that amount.

However, I daresay if we are talking Potter here you will be over that threshold and you will have to use Airsure I think.

If he lists the price of airmail though, I don't see why you would have to send it insured... but the peace of mind might be worth it!!!

I am talking Potter, and the total may be about 35 GBP or more. The difference is, uninsured is $4.50 US and insured is $16.  That is a huge difference that I don't want to get stuck with.

its sorta late for a reply, but, why so much for shipping Huh, because when i last ordered a costume card from germany, it took 3 days to canada, and it was only about $2cdn for shipping costs, plus it was registered and in airmail with insurance included.

That was a very good price Elle.

Here in the UK the basic price for a light airmail item is £5!!! Is that about $12 Canadian?? That is the price the post office charge when there is hardly any weight.. plus handling and packaging too

I am from Canada and UK postage is expensive. That is a fact of life. I opt for insurance as soon as the value goes over 20GBP which is $50 cdn (approx.)  Lips Sealed

is it possible where you live to get fedex? because they may have different shipping rates which are lower, because i couldn't imagine my post office to charge $12 canadian for something so small and light.

Hmm I don't think Fed Ex are as big in the UK - it would have to be a VERY big parcel to call them in Wink

Good question.  The cost for regular unisured mail was 2.50 GBP, I think, which was $4.50 USD.  Then, for insured, it was 8.95 GBP.  Now I got the Sirius Case Topper card from the UK (I live in the US) and it was only 3 GBP for insured mail.   8.95 GBP is about $16 USD and that was just a little too high for my taste.  I did get a binder from the UK and he charged me 4.50 GBP.  When i got the package (which was porrly packaged, the actual shipping cost on it showed 5.92 GBP.  So shipping to the US seems to cost a bit of money.  I try my best to bid on US auctions for this reason, but some things I fell I have to have, and I don't care where they come from.
