Well thanks must first go out to FTY who first told me of these "hot boxes", and now I have heard that HARRY POTTER ONES DO EXIST, Richard Wheat opened one last night (which was fair enough as in 6 cases he had found no Hermione or Sirius autos!!!).
From the sounds of it he got all the autos and costumes and props plus some spares!!!!!!

A hot box has all the inserts (autos, costumes, props)in it, rumoured to be only 20 in the world (19 now). Would it include the case incentive cards though? I think its just the hobby inserts, but not certain WHAT? ? *FTY slowly turns green* And THATS a sight, a large green yak

Could someone please check with Richard to see at what point he realised it was an archive box. Was the box marked on the outside or maybe on the inside cover, or wasn't it until he started opening the packs ? We (Well...me, actually) need to know these things CJD

I will ask later on but he did say the box was not marked in any way on the outside (which is good news to folks who are just buying single boxes - as if they were marked out the outside the dealer would know instantly and would not sell that box - yahay great news for collectors!)

Is a hot box a mistake ??
I heard that you can tell by shaking the box. Is this true or a line of bull?
If it's true what am I listening for??

I doubt that insert cards make a different noise to normal cards especially since they're all wedged in packs. so yes, I think is a myth.

If it's true I'd love to see you go to a dealer and ask if you can shake the boxes!

I've often wondered what shop keepers throught of people sifting through the FOTR U and TTU packs looking for clothing cards... but that really takes the biscuit!

Part of me wishes that they were marked somehow like Rittenhouse does, but then dealers who have tons of cases would have a clear advantage. I think unmarked is better because then anyone has a chance at getting a "hot box" for the price of a normal box. But with all the sealed cases I am buying it would be nice to be able to just see which box has the full set in it. That would be great fun to open a "hot box"!!

Another idea I thought unscruplous dealers might employ is the use of one of those digital microscales, the type used in medicine and chemistry. Surely any pack containing a costume or prop card must weigh slightly more? If the bend test did not work, this might? Lets all walk into the Cinema Store with drug dealers scales and commence the weighing!
