Well, over the weekend, I went to the Philly Non-Sports Card show.  I must say that I was a little dissapointed.  Granted, I had a blast, it just wasn't exactly what I had expected.

There were two rooms with tables.  I needed some single cards to complete my set from the show Charmed, and only one table had single cards for sale, and none that I needed. No one really had individual packs for sale, but mainly just the single "special" cards (costumes, props, autos).  Once again, not thrilled.  They had Harry Potter, but no really neat unique ones.  And their prices were outragous.  I recommened eBay if you want to get any HP cards.  For example, they had a Daily Prophet for $200, a permission for for $250 (and thesewere the only two "rare" ones they had, and a hermione auto for $450. They had loads of G. Weasley's costume, but they were all $30.  They had a Dervish and Banges for $45, and one place actually had it for $100!!!  That same place had the inexpensive LOTR cards for $100 as well.

Inkworks was there and a few other companies, but Artbox does NOT do this show.  I wonder why?

So that is my update for you. Any questions, just ask.

Well I am glad you had such a good time. I wonder if there's anyone on this forum who collects charmed who could help you out with single cards??

Well at least you got to see the Permission slip - sometimes at these shows you just pick up a bargain amongst (mostly) all the overpriced cards Smiley but not always Smiley

Did you buy anything? Did you win any prizes on the door? Was Topps there? They didn't have any LOTR Chrome cards on show did they?

Thanks

Well, I did buy a little.  I bought some complete set of Charmed and LOTR.  I also bought a box of "24" cards from the TV show for $20 (some places had it for $30).  I also bought a Harry Potty card from the Garbage Pail Kids set and and Charmed auto card (Leo) for $20 that has gone for almost $80 on eBay.  I am angry I did not buy the other one I found for $35 and sell it on eBay, but my mind was not thinking like that at the time. The one I bought has some very minor flaws, but in order to find it, you have to be under a very good light, looking at a specific angle and extremely close to the card.  However, in a protector (I get the 1/2 inch thick screw down cases), you can't see the flaw at all (must be out of the protector to find). But since I don't plan to ever sell it, it felt good to add to my collection for that price.

I did win a door prize.  I got a full poster from the original wacky packages (you don't get a choice of what you want).

The permission slip was neat, it had some dotted lines on it too.  The first one I saw with print on it.  The guy also had a Honeydukes variant which was neat.  Very colorful.

They had loads of filmcardz boxes from HP for $50-$65 depending on the table.

I did not see Topps, so i do not think they were there either.  Now, the chrome cards for LOTR.  Are they the ones that are kind of 3-d, where the card kind of puffs out for the person on it?  If so, they had the promo card, but that was it.  They did have some of the LOTR update costumes, and I must admit, the prizes were ridiculous.  Some were $50 and some were more than $100!!!!!

They did have the San Diego Comic Con Binder.  Some places had it for a lot and another had it for $15!!! Of course, I bought mine for $15 a couple weeks ago at a local comic book store, and probably should have bought this one as well, but like I said, my mind wasn't working correctly at the time.

I do plan to go to their next one in April.  I know a new Charmed set will be coming out, and a Buffy coffin (it is all held in a mini coffin)with all 7 sets in it (for $299), not that I want that for that price, but others may be interested. Maybe there will more HP stuff there at that time, especially since the new set is soon being released.  Are we excited yet?

I don't get the Buffy Ultimate collection in the coffin thing for $299 Shocked

Doesn't seem worth it unless I am missing something - All the previous sets reprinted, but no auto's or costumes or anything special in the set?!?

Am I missing something about it that makes it worth $300?

I did pick up the sell sheet, but don't have a way of showing you a pic.  It is a nice coffin (which is probably what costs the most) and it is seasons 1-7, like 600 and some cards, all foil stamped on 20 pt card stock.  Yup, that's it, nothing special.
