I have heard lots of stories as to this card's origin - none seem to involve a legit way of them coming into the collectors domain!!!
If you want a peartree - save for an official one, if they really are stolen you won't own it for very long anyway!

If this card is stolen, wouldn't it have been confiscated by now? It was up for sale over a month ago, and supposedly Artbox knew about it.

My understanding for the numbering of these cards is that Warner Bros Studio's who provided all the costumes and props for Artbox required all of them to be serial numbered to avoid fake reproductions!
I would bet that Artbox is required in there licensing agreement to follow through on this. Now I think most card companys who serial number cards keep a few extra copies that are not serial numbered if they need to replace a damaged card.
They are supposed to stamp the same serial number (as the damaged card being replaced) and the damaged card is not supposed to ever be circulated again.
Most of this info comes from one of my local hobby shop guys who has been in the business for many many years. So I would think there should not be an pear tree without a number. It would be more likely to be a mistake on a card numbered to 1300 copies or something. But a card with only 30 made - I would imagine the chances of a mistake on the card would slim to none.

I totally agree because I can imagine the security concerns for these VERY HIGHLY valued items for the whole process of transporting them to placing them into cards, because I personally know lots of people who'd give almost anything for a complete harry robe or exploding bon bons box, which explains warners concerns for serial #'s and to imagine a card out of 30 slipping through the process , no doubt if it were returned, its serial # would have been recorded down manually written or on computer, then being as valuable as it is, the worker at artbox (if it were authentic) would have gone and got another produced with an identical # or sent out one with another # if it were to get approved, the odds of this being legit would be like the odds of finding a pack of cards with all the current auto's unsigned plus all the case incentives then finding that in a retail pack sold for .99 down at your local wal-marts store after the box had been picked at.

I e-mailed Mike Simon, VP, Sales & Marketing, at Artbox. This is a direct quote from his reply:
The leaf cards that I sent out were all numbered 1-30 and those were case incentives only. I have no idea what this card is, especially if it is not numbered.
It doesn't get much clearer than that. Bidders take heed.

Yeah, I definately wouldn't mind owning this for a cheap price as a novelty but to pay over $600.00 for an unofficial card seems a bit odd But that's just me! To each his own!
