So this is a little delayed but I finally got my pictures back.
About a month ago I met both Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving. They were both in a play "Hedda Gabler" here in Sydney. So a friend of mine from my NZ trip (thus another fan) went to the play. We had to wait in line to get standing room tickets because the play had long since sold out. It was so worth it. The play was incredible--instense, riveting, well-acted, etc...Cate was simply amazing. The opportunity to see her act was a chance I could not pass up . Her presence, the way she simply becomes her character. It's one thing to see her in movies but to see her in person, wow. And Hugo was fantastic as well, he also created a very interesting character.
Anyway, after the play my friend and I tried to figure out where the actors would come out. I asked the guy I bought the program from but he was way too full of himself: he informed us that the actors would not be leaving and would simply be eating in the Green room. I asked where they would leave in the evening and he sort of waved his hand to one side and said it was not public access. So we went to where it looked like they might come out and waited. Our patience was rewarded when Hugo came down, along with one of the other actors. Hugo was very nice, despite having to rush away between shows. He posed for photos with me and my friend and signed all the things I had for him to autograph: two pictures, my LOTR book and the program. I thanked him and told him I had really enjoyed the performance.
Awhile later we lucked out even more when Cate came down. She was clearly in a rush but stopped to sign the program of another girl waiting and my book. We asked about photos but she apologized saying she didn't have time. As she drove away she said 'bye to us--a class act.
So no photo with Cate, but here are the pics of me and Hugo:

Wow that looks very very cool! How long did you have to wait for them?

What was the play like Alyssa? Worth reading?

Did you queue for cancellations Alyssa?

FTY I don't think you make enough of being in Oz... sounds like there's loads of opportunities to have LOTR fests  Grin

yeah, the beard takes some getting used to. Certainly makes him harder to recognize, especially when he also has sunglasses on. He was a judge in the play so I suppose it fits the character.
The play is very depressing but good. The program had a lot about it and the themes, etc..but I haven't gotten around to reading that. I dont' know if I'd recommend reading it or not. I suppose it would be worth a read since it's a fairly well known play I guess  Undecided

We didn't have to wait too long--Hugo came out maybe half an hour after the play was over. Cate at least 15 minutes after that I think. So not bad--I would have waited much longer obviously!

And FTY--you got the wrong info somewhere. Regular seats sold out immediately after they announced that Cate was starring but standing room tickets only went on sale an hour before that performance.
I did have to queue though. My friend and I lucked out in that there were lots of returns that day so many people in front of us in line bought those so we were able to go to the matinee. Otherwise we would have had to wait over 6 hours for the evening show. Yes, people were queuing all day: showing up at 9am for a 7pm performance  Shocked
I'd never heard of queueing to get standing room tickets for a play! But obviously it was well worth it and the standing room was just fine.
