The Price Guide - Now with 1,100 cards and prices based upon 57,500 auctions!

Wow.

I've just taken a look into the database, the price guide now contains pictures and info on 1,100 individual cards or sets and is based on .... 57,500 auctions. It's astonishing. The price guide is so much bigger and better than we ever thought it would be.

Without any more ado, I present the latest update complete with pictures of all the cards. May I present the Order of the Phoenix Collectors Update Set?

Enjoy!

OOTP Released and added to the price guide

The latest Artbox HP set is already upon us, so banish those post-christmas blues and get looking at the set on the Shack forum.

We've also added this latest set to the price guide. The price guide is undergoing some changes at the moment so unfortunately the set doesn't have pictures, but standby we are working on it. Otherwise the price guide should be working as per normal... please get in touch if you see otherwise!

Please also note the new system for dealing with redemptions. Redemptions are now in their own section, and once the autograph is returned and released the auto will be added to the autograph section.

Thanks again and Happy Collecting Yaks

A news article for the sake of it?

Well folks it appears that although we all do our bit (even me!) to keep the price guide going and up to date, I'm utterly hopeless at keeping the news up to date!

The reason for this is quite simple, the forum and price guide are so hectic, but fantastic. I can't tell you how amazed Mark and I have been over what a success the guide is. It's populated with so much data now that it's a truly valuable archive of information.

Despite this there's really no room for sitting back on our laurels and enjoying the view - more and more card sets are coming out all the time (especially from Artbox eh folks!) and as I write the first boxes and cases from the Order of the Phoenix Update set are being cracked open and the price guide for that will be debuting shortly. I'm looking forward to a string of films next year some of which are bound to have accompanying card sets (e.g. the new Batman Film), the Topps Heroes set and much much more so I hope you'll stay with us for all of those.

We really are so pleased with how well the price guide has turned out, but as I say, there's always room for improvement. There are several untidy bits with missing pictures. There may even be some cards missing. We do plan to run a competition (involving everyone in finding mistakes/missing info/missing pictures & involving sending in your contributions, pictures and inputs to make the guide more complete) in the near future... so watch this space for that one soon.

In the meantime keep your eyes and ears glued to the forum for more info on the OOTPU set and a big thank you to everyone who has made this place such a huge success.

All the best for a happy new year both on the Yak Shack and off it ;o)

Roz & Mark

July '06 Update - new sets covered by the guide include the 'Goblet of Fire Update' set, 'LOST Revelations', 'Lord of the Rings Evolution' and Harry Potter 'Memorable Moments'

Since the last update some great new sets are out and there are even more on the horizon. We are covering two new sets from Artbox: The Goblet of Fire and Memorable Moments.

The Lord of the Rings Evolution set has sprung up on us all and emptied our collective bank balance. The guide will not cover sketches for this set; the variable nature of sketches make it difficult to give an 'average' price for a sketch, but pricing advice can always be sought on the main forum.

The LOST: Revelations set is pegged for a mid-August release but pictures of the cards have been released and the price guide is under construction.

Since the last update we have had a lot of new auction entering helpers join us but we are always looking for new troops so that we can cover more new sets. If you are interested in helping out please contact us. I just want to say a big thanks to everyone who's ever entered an auction, the guide is currently made up of data from 37,500 auctions, this is an astronomical number, and through the law of averages and looking at past ended auctions should certainly guide you well when deciding how much to splash out on a card.

Happy collecting everyone
